it will be better value to your own cricket than, for example, buying a new bat. you won't regret it

I am doing the coaching young children course soon (been asked by the club as my lad in now in the under 9's), looking forward to it.....

Ok thanks for the advice. As I play and live in Cornwall it's the course is in the cricket centre there, but I'm at uni in Cheltenham and it's £40 there and back. Would be more like £300 with travel.

 I help with our youth set up (u11 & 13) so it would be handy for that. Just as a student it costs a fair amount.

Hello lads,

I'm currently playing cricket in Canada and looking for some constructive criticism of my batting technique. I don't have access to any coaches in my area so it can be hard to gauge what I'm doing wrong...or right.  If any coaches out there are interested in doing a bit of video assessment of my technique please let me know and I'll pm you the link to a video of me in the nets. The video is about 9mins long and I'm facing a bit of medium pace, spin and a sidearm.

P.s This video is NOT 9 min of me bashing half volleys around. I've included all the errors and silly bits so you can get a full view of how I bat.

is a trigger movement a good or a bad thing? I am supposing there are good and bad trigger movements. As a youngster I used to back away and the move forwards again. As I've got older and bowlers quicker, I haven't felt I had time for superfluous movements, however my trigger seems to be going forward now, sometimes too quickly which then leaves me wafting away from the pad if its anything other than straight. I tried 'kissing' the ball and leading with my head as I'd heard this was a good idea, 'move the head and the feet will follow' and this works well up to 60mph but still i feel i cant get my head over a ball more 8 or 9 inches from my starting point. ECB Level 2 Certified Coach (the new course).

Over 12 years experience in managing & coaching junior cricket in total and have recently guided 2 youngsters through to becomming county wicket keepers for  their age group.

With over 20 years experience in playing for premiership level clubs too I have quite an experience in the tactical game too.

Alex, 20, ECB level 1, probably strongest coaching batting and spin bowling, can teach a bit of seam bowling and fielding as well. My weakest suit is coaching wicket keeping, and that is what I was examined on for my level 1. I am also a level two community sports leader. Does anyone have any tips for coaching keepers? I've been working with a couple of age groups at my club for about 3 or 4 years, and have seen a few of them make county or county development/district sides, although as I am level one I work with a more qualified and experienced coach who should take more of the credit.
I play for my university in the top south eastern division in BUCS, and float between the 1st and 2nd teams at my club due to inconsistency/ frisbee commitments.
