Hey fellas,
Had an interesting one this weekend and have only just calmed down enough to post it on here due to the swear word limitations.
This weekend we played a "derby" friendly game away. We knew the game would be interesting but it just seemed to be one of those games.
We won which softened the blow and I took two catches stood up. However, this was my predicament.
I went out to bat No.5 when we required 20 to win. I came on and faced 4 balls of spin sensible with one edged away for a single.
Start of the next over I missed the first ball of a medium swing bowler but if gave me a good idea for what it was doing.
Second ball was bowled on my legs and I tried to clip it down, missed it and then it sounded like it hit a pad and then I heard the bails crash off. I assumed the keeper had taken the bails off but looked up to see the (My team's) Umpire trigger me. The keeper and bowler went up for it.
After the game the keeper told me the ball hit his pad and went back onto the stumps
I know everyone will say you get the bad ones and its the umpires decision but why didn't the keeper just admit it?
How can you deal with this level, of what I perceive as cheating? I knew the ball didn't bowl me, but as a keeper I would never in a millions years try and cheat someone out the crease. Especially in a friendly!
