Very nice bat mate. What's the weight?

That is my one problem with M&H is there presentation and finishing. This would have cost over £400 ( I know you have links with lukey so this may not have cost full price) but to then get the bat in that condition looks wise to me is poor. The benefit to using a wax polish is that it sells the moisture in and also gives the bat a great finish. Not to much to ask really from M&H for bats that command top dollar all through there range. Also how's this finishing and sanding on this bat?

Weight is 2lb10.5oz with 2 grips.

Well there are both positives and negatives of leaving the bat "unfinished".

The positive is that the bat matures and opens's up faster thus reaching its peak swiftly.

The negative, as you mentioned, £400 bats needs to look like one.

I have watched some video reviews and read some other reviews on this bat and all mentioned a mid to high middle. The middle on this particular bat is more high to low (though not very high). Suits me well as up north the wickets aren't very fast the bouncy (thanks to the rains we get).

I know I am going to enjoy this bat.

That M&H CK22 is a lovely looking bat, not just the willow but I am a big fan of the sticker design and colour scheme, really stands out without being too flashy and out there. Looks a concaved shape but a very high spine. Look forward to a review of this once it has been road-tested in the nets!

I cannot believe that pretty much the fussyist person on the forum about bats is happy to let their wife choose them a new one.

Do I have an option? :))  she has done an amazing job given the very limited knowledge she has of cricket bats and the steadily diminishing interest in the sport and my playing.

But it is a beautiful bat. Can't wait to hit the nets.

Must also give some credit to Lukey for taking the risk and ordering the bats (he wasn't planning to stick these till Feb/March) and liaising with M&H to get a near perfect bat.

Gloves are Gray-Nicolls Powerbow 750 Men's Right Hand. Picked them up for £25, happy with them at that price and good fit, too. Not too big.

Very nice kit there Alan!
I've got a pair of the Powerbow gloves, they really are top for that price.

Thank you, on balance I prefer the Kookaburra softs, however, only just as G-N certainly run them very close.

Also, the standard G-N Men's size gloves, which are easier to find, fit me perfectly.

Just got back from 13 days Melbourne and watching the cricket and while I was there I thought it would be rude not to visit the GCCC. Noticed that they had some Nike Dominate boots in stock for pretty much the same price they will be in the UK. I couldn't resist and got them there and then, they are so comfortable and definitely the one of the best looking pair of boots at the moment.

Here is my kit for 2014

Bats
GM Epic 707 - match bat for second half of last season, lovely profile and my favourite pick up and balance.
GM Flare 909 - new bat, like the higher middle and lack of concaving. Been using this as much as possible to open it up.
Gray Nicolls Maverick 5 Star - another new bat, struggled with the heavier weight and low middle. Will give it a second chance come the summer.
Newbery. Navarone SPS - badly cracked through the toe, retired.

Softs
Kookaburra R1000 pads - new for 2014, replaced my old Kahuna ones. Rather stiff at the moment.
SS Super Test and Limited Edition gloves - can't get enough of these gloves, perfect fit and flexibility. Favourite bit of kit.
Aero P2's - standard.
Masuri Ti - standard.

Shoes
Adidas 22yard Mid's - most underrated bit of kit. Comfortable and supportive.
Nike Century II's - new for 2014, always liked the orange (must be mad).

Bag
Gray Nicolls 1000 duffle - check out my review for more details.

Got a kooka blade 975, very nice bat and bought for a great $200AU (108.75GBP)
