To be fair the Aussie's have a poor side so if KP does miss this game it will be an easy chance for the step in to make a name for themselves!

If Taylor gets a ton playing some unknown Aussie spinners will he walk into the team?

Even though batting at Taunton every other week has to do wonders for your average, I still rate Compton and would give him another shot.  He's technically good and whilst he may be prone to the odd lapse here or there, he's played well mostly (apart from the two test series against NZ) and was unceremoniously binned a little too early for my liking.

I like Bairstow too, needs to sort out the across the line business though sharpish at Test level.

Only if KP isn't fit.

I though that he was confirmed to miss the third test?

What happened to Compton? From what I remember he was blazing bowling attacks?

With Joe Root scoring 180 why change your top order?

If you were an opening batsman you'd be a bit miffed to drop down the order after 180 at Lords in the Ashes surely?

Compton generally bats at 3 or 4 for Somerset doesn't he?

Batted 3 in his superb 2012 season.

Problem I don't think he is a test 4. Think how much he would change the shape of the England team if he came in at 4, would put a lot of pressure on the other guy to score big runs IMO.
