That's great value. What weight?

Just over 2.8 with single chevron, got to add a scuff so will be about 2.85 - 2.9, pick up is feather light as its a mid/high profile

You must be joking!!!

Where? How?

Life just stopped making sense! :D

Friend of a friend is all i can say was handpicked from a selection reserved for someone, There is a tiny knot on the back towards the shoulder about the size of a 5p that is right on the edge by the chequered sticker GN have on all there bats. Not sure if this downgraded it but i do believe this should have been an LE. Not sure if the grade sticker is accurate but anyway its my final bat in my kit bag now. Can’t believe I’m down to just 3 bats. Better update not kit thread lol

Absolute steal at £100 mate
Nice grains and absolute steal at that price. Do GN see heartwood as negative? Why is this bat not grade1 or 1+?

Upto 1 inch of heartwood is grade 1
More than 1 inch is graded as grade 2
Half blade heartwood is grade 3
This reflects in it's RRP £150, shockwave 5 star lite,

Yes, so what does Lite actually mean? Is it lower quality than the regular 5 star, or just a lightweight version? When I bought mine it was advertised as 5 star (and not lite - typical sports direct error), hence why I sold it on.

Lower quality, would say it's a 4 start bat, which I'm sure is still very good willow and pressing, but as shockwave is high middle bat, don't know how good it actually is for driving

Pretty sure it means lightweight doesn't it?

Shockwave 5 star is rrp £279.
Shockwave 5 star Lite is rrp £150.

So I'm thinking it is about quality and not just weight. Really misleading name though.

I'd the same with Kronus 700 lite

The 5star and 5star lite are both the same grade but the lite tends to come in lighter weights. You can get the shockwave I weight from 2.7 - 2.12 but the lite only between 2.6 - 2.9.

As for grade or RRP they are the same. Not sure what grade exactly as GN are quite vague with the grading as they grow there own willow so don’t tie into the wrights standard grading. I would guess it’s like the GM 808 and be mostly G2 as that’s the most common model purchased in the mid range price point when I spoke to a retailer a while back.

As for quality I would say this is as good as any G1 or if you buy into it G1+ bat out there on initial indication of pick up and performance with an old ball. It’s also lower density as it’s full width, 38mm edge, 61mm spine ( approx as don’t have digital callipers)

5 star and 5 star lite are the same grade. The lites we have seem to be bigger in size for the weight, and usually range between 2-7 and 2-9
