oil or beeswax???

ok - have found some great posts re refurbing bats - looking at my bats from the past 25 years and going to spend an arvo sanding down. Now normally i use some linseed oil but have been reading about beeswax and fancy having a go:
how do you put beeswax on? just rub it on from the stick? Do you oil the bat first? Is it possible to get non-coloured linseed? - it turns the bats quite a darker colour....

You can get lighter coloured linseed oil, I think it darkens over time as well if you leave it in the bottle. I presume you can get almost clear stuff.
Not sure on beeswax, but there are several companies who do a designated "bat wax" which is a linseed/beeswax mix. Salix do a good one, but I would suggest speaking with Bulldog on here as he has his own brand of this and the feedback I have heard is that it is very good.
