Nice looking stick there Chadders.

I still suspect with some of these Ashes bats, they may be stickering up pre-made blanks rather than making them to order. Hence some may have the edge stamping.

I'll bet you're looking forward to reading the essay/review! ;)

Yeah, a fair amount of heartwood, but it doesn't really affect performance. It would just be boring if no bats in my collection had any heartwood, so I don't mind this one. :) It's actually very very slightly concaved around the middle of the bat, but it is hardly noticeable. I like how it is convex at the toe area.

Cheers :)

I don't think it's top willow, ie Legend grade, but it's LE grade. This is pressed really well, and reminds me a lot of the Legend, and looks a lot better than some of the Legends I have seen in picture!

Chuck your pictures up! ;) If you check the shoulder stamps, I'm sure they will say A and N. They may have just forgotten to stamp mine, or maybe they bowed it a little too much, so it would have been an awkward stamp, I'm not sure! I did ask for an e41, but I also asked for minimal concaving and an oval handle, so I essentially got an e37 with minimal concaving. ;)

Bit confused now mine has got j/r so does that mean it was made by John Gasson if so its not right as Alex should off made it

I have absolutely no clue mate, I've only recently started getting GN stuff! I wouldn't mind if it wasn't made by Alex, as long as it feels good in the hands and plays well. :) John Gasson is a fine podshaver as well, he would have to be to be part of the GN team mate!

If that was one of my own Python Bats I couldn't justify it being a top top of the range bat. I have a bat almost identical to it, maybe a couple more grains and i would charge £225 maximum for it.

Its just the face Admin team, no advertising!!!

8 grains is ok, I think a lot of people are used to seeing a lot more these days but a few years ago 8 - 12 grains was the norm

How does it feel off the mallet? I have a bat which doesn't look the best but it is one middle anywhere 2 inches above the toe right up to the sticker

Can't always judge a bat by its looks and I spoke to Steve from Lords, as I have known him for years and asked him to get Chad a certain number on his bat, he told me they were just LE bats.

Based on what I have seen of GN bats LE is grade 1 sometimes bordering on grade 2 so I'd say this bat fits that description so you just about got what you ordered. I think Chad got lucky
