More worrying would be the grill allowing the ball to pass through once that happened

That helmet was a shocker.

Thankfully the new regs will mean that does not happen anymore

I thought it was lucky the part of the grill that came off didn't go the other way; could of made a nice gash in his face!

I saw this and instantly thought of the new Masuri lids. Pretty scary seeing a ball go through a grill though.

Not a good look for the GM grille that...

He used Alex Hales' GM lid after the incident. Carberry initially ran a Masuri out to him which he didn't want.

I thought he was running back as he forgot to bring the boys size helmet ;).

The helmet did its job though didn't it?
They recommend you change it as soon as it takes a knock

The welding of the grille failed and a shard of metal flew off at quite a pace, i can only imagine the horror if that had sprung off into roots face, or even into a close fielder.

It looked like Root was wearing a Masuri helmet for the second T20, with tape over the logo. Not a ringing endorsement of GM helmets to switch to another make for the next match.

Wouldn't be surprised if he was told to wear something "safer" in the second match.
