SS/TON Gladiator

Hi guys,

Was in GCCC today and was incredibly impressed by the SS Gladiator LE except the price $675 or 394 pounds. I was looking on the Internet and saw the VKS have the non LE version for 241 pounds including free international postage.

Couple of quick questions, has anyone delt with VKS before, and if so what were your experiences. Also what is the difference between the normal version and the LE version?

The Gladiator has really changed shape, it's got a much fuller profile now and they all feel pretty light regardless of their weights. Was pretty impressed.

I have dealt with VKS before.  They are a big competitor now, but I never had any problems ordering from them in my past life.  Online orders all dispatched very quickly and no issues with anything.  I never received any order confirmation emails, which was a bit worrying and unusual, but apart from that, the service is good.  The in-store experience there is less satisfying, as they really push some products over others, and the main sales guy is quite intense, but there's a decent range of kit in there.  I think about half of the bats are hand-picked too, and the TON range, in particular, is wider than most...

The Gladiator LE doesn't exist in the UK market, although I suspect VKS import directly from Sareen rather than going trough the UK distributor, as their prices are rather cheap. It could be a discount sale i suppose. The Gladiator is the top bat in the UK range and has been on sale around £360+ in recent months.

I took the plunge and went for a Long Blade SS aka TON gladiator in 2.10. Very good to deal with and sale was done through a few emails supplying pictures of the bat I purchased. I truly wanted to support a forum sponsor and go custom but the few that I contacted didn't seem very keen to make a sale, but their loss.

Couldn't fault the price either, 241 posted to Australia with free international shipping was understandably, a great bonus. seems strange that they can offer free postage considering I have been quoted around to 50 pound mark from some makers.

Will post a small review when it arrives, cheers.

A number of larger retailers offer a flat price for overseas shipping as it is easier for them to take a hit on some orders and make a bit more on others (depending on destination) than to price up individual sales each time.

To offer it free is unlikely to be a good long term business plan.

They are definitely getting them direct from India, Long blade TON bats are not available to a retailer like me using the uk distributor.

Thy have a agreement and jake you are correct the go direct with the original agreement in the uk they are separate from incredible and get different models
