I've been thinking about it for a bit and gone through a ranges of players and back again. I think you need at least 5 recognised bowlers, and a good mix. I don't understand those who pick two keepers if there are noticeably better batsmen about. I also agree in part with MM in Gayle would be a good choice. I am picking this on a decent batting track, no hint of rain (so will last 5 days) and turn in the 4th innings.

Gayle
Smith (c)
Trott
Amla
Kallis
Watson
De Villiers (w)
Swann
Steyn
Harris
Ajmal

There are a couple of names there that might be a bit left field. Harris has shown he is a good bowler.

I also have Watson. For all his faults, he is à decent all-rounder and fielder.

One off game, so Gayle can go ballistic and is my part-time spinner as well if Swann and Ajmal are not firing.

Trot and Amla to grind the opposition down for a couple of days.

Few beers MM?

I wish!  Didn't notice that I'd got caps lock on the wrong way until I'd posted it!

I ve hardly followed cricket since the exit of great names like ricky rahul VVS, sachin and jacques struggling to match their own standards.

Still will try to make my eleven

A COOK
S DHAWAN
H AMLA
V KOHLI(pretty hard for me to name someone else at this position because of sachin :( )
M CLARKE
K P
A B D(WK)
G SWANN
STEYN
J ANDERSON
M MORKEL

Dhawan and Kohli?  Interesting selections given the former has only played one test and the latter has done nothing since his first series!

Dhawan actually averages 187 in Tests this calendar year. Granted, he's only played one Test innings of 187, but it sounds good!

Can't see Jamshed, Smith, Hossain, Hughes, Finn and a couple of others ever making a world side.  I do however think Pattinson, Cummings, Rafiq and Buttler worthy of a mention.

Cummins will be lost to injury surely? Or limited overs cricket at best.

Once Ajmal, YK and Misbah retire, how many Tests are the PCB going to push for? Pakistan look very, very weak in long form cricket.

And I'd never have Sachin in a world eleven. Unless the stats counted he wouldn't give two hoots.

I'm going to remain optimistic that teh lad will get over his long term injury worries and will eventually fulfill the potential he has shown thus far - after all, lots of bowlers have injury problems in their early 20s that eventually subside...

True, but many don't and it would be a more viable career path to bowl four overs and set yourself up for life.

(I am being speculative)

I don't think there are that many who have had early career, possibly growth related, injury problems and never recovered!
