..actually very true, most of the pro players prefer to have their bats without the toe guard and furthermore to have a very rough finish to the bottom.

Yes true!!But let me add the point that having a toe, is very important as its prolongs the life of the bat....pro players will play on near perfect pitches. The rest of us will play on damp pitches which makes bats prone to "toe swell" etc.
And they have the joy of not having to pay for their bats!!
