Gotta be Gilly. Wicketkeeper-batsman, batsman-wicketkeeper, you choose.

Always liked atherton & Stewart as classy opening bats, got a lot of request for the way Gilly bats in the same way no matter what the context of the game and also as he was so honest to the spirit of the game.

Also Freddie always gave it his best with the talent that he had with the bat.

Kevin Pietersen
Adam Gilchrist
Shane Watson
Ricky Ponting
Michael Vaughan
Chris Gayle
Sachin Tendulkar
Mike Hussey

All have their own class so I can't pick just one.

With respect to where i bat its gotta be Shane Watson (He's batted in just about all positions), always is looking to attack which makes him easy to watch. Ive also always liked watching Amla and Clarke as well.

I always liked the 3-4 combination of
Nasser Hussain
Graham Thorpe

always thought Thorpe was a world class batsman and one of only a few who could play Warney either on thr front or back foot brilliantly

I'll take a liberty or two if I may?

As a former middle order bat, it has to be Sir Viv and Graham Thorpe.

As an opener for the past three seasons I've always admired Greenidge (my earliest cricket memories are from seeing the West Indies in England in 1984) and Slater's and Hayden's approach (even though I'm a pom).  I also admire Cook's perseverance and ability to #digin (!), I named one of our cats 'Strauss' and will never forget watching Gooch's 333 and 123 against India in 1990.

I've also taken up keeping this season and my favourite all time wk/batsman has to be Sangakkara - pure class...

If ever I find myself in a run chase I try and think... 'What would Michael Bevan do?'

pure class on his day
