I mean I've sold bats at a loss where people have picked up a bargain and I've bought bats far cheaper than they would retail = bargain. Sometimes the gamble pays off, sometimes it doesn't. Such is life.

Spoke to a friend this morning (who I know has a genuine 15000) about borrowing it to take some pics for comparison... Frustratingly he told me he is now considering selling his. If only I knew that before... He's asked me to stick it on eBay for him...

Here are some pics which quote clearly show the difference in quality of stickers. (I knew the latest were pretty good but never really paid much attention to detail until now)

What about the time you spend in hunting down these bargains, contacting the eBay sellers, taking photos, posting them on here, generally agonising about their authenticity etc. How valuable is this time for you? Even if you can save a few pennies, how many hours have you lost in the process? Is time not money?!

The cheapest way to buys these bats is from CA direct anyway. One 15000 costs �169 shipped.

Well, that's what CA quoted me. This includes the bat and shipping price. I'm not sure on the probability of paying VAT on the bat, as the only bat I've ordered from India/Pakistan had no extra charges.

Did you pose as a retailer or something?! Price seems strangely low. Also, I bet they didn't mention import duties, which will almost certainly have to be paid. Not sure exactly how much this would be, but it all adds up...

I understand why you are questioning me to this extent because you have business interests at stake, especially since most UK shops sell these bats at around �300. There are also guys who are selling these bats, probably paying no VAT for �200ish.

I know CA normally sell these bats for a similar price even in bulk orders, which are supposed to be �3k+, however they will sell you one, or several bats at the mentioned prices (or below).

Also, with large bulk orders you are almost guaranteed to pay import duty and VAT, whereas on small orders, there is a good chance you will probably not pay anything.

In other news, the guy who sold me the CA has refunded me a large chunk of my money so the bat cost me �60 shipped.

I could have returned for a full refund, but I need a net bat - and any CA for �60 is reasonable.

I am not condoning counterfeit items btw. I just want to make that clear

That's where the problem is with CA and may other brands who sell direct. No one wants to become distributor of these companies. Believe me, people have tried in past but failed for this particular reason. Most of the big brands from India don't sell direct.
For buying direct , you won't get after sale customer service plus you don't know what you are going to get. If bat develops a manufacturing fault, r u going to send it back as I know CA doesn't offer that.
Also if they declare the parcel as sample ( to avoid VAT), there is a high chance of bats getting drilled by custom.
the reason we sell bats at the prices you have mentiones becaus we pay VAT, Custom Charges and also have premises(rent etc...)

The whole Asian bat debate is interesting, but because of the difference in the respective countries markets, you can make huge savings as a consumer if you buy direct. Of course this has a negative effect on our own countries economic interests, but in the larger picture our country engages in offshore outsourcing and importing of goods on multiple levels (Gov, industry, ect) anyway.

If I was the owner of CA, I won't sell direct and have proper /authorised agents in the countries. This way we won't see many fakes but there are many other ways to stop fakes appearing the market. CA is one of the best brand from Pakistan and the owner is a close friend of mine. If they sell direct what is the point of us retailers keeping their brand and this will be discussed when I visit Pakistan in few months time.
The custom will do it as it has been declared Sample and I know that people do that in order not to pay any VAT/Custom.
