Yer collys batting is suspect but his cutters are useful and his fielding is wonderful.

Plus there really arent any options, bell maybe but hes so mentally weak. In fact i would probably have shah as he can be explosive.

Shahzad looks real good, bowls fast and can reverse it, also a good lower order hitter

Looks like the selectors are the only people who rate bresnan, obviously hes quite good but hes not an international standard player.

I rate Bresnan very highly, and he hasnt fared a lot worse than most of the other players! but i agree that hes not international standard, yet.

Denly averages 30 odd and strikes at 70 that's not what we need in a partner for Strauss at the top of the order. I'd solve that problem by bringing in Davies myself who has averaged 50 odd across the last 2 seasons and strikes at close to a run a ball, this also solves the problem of what to do with Prior who shouldn't be anywhere near the ODI side. Get Trott into the OD side as well, he should've been a part of it years before he was even considered for Test selection.

Davies
Strauss
Trott

In ideal circumstances Pietersen and Collingwood would make up the middle order but with Pietersen's injury I'd like to see Morgan given more of a go, I didn't agree with his original selection but since he's been in the team he's done enough to keep his place. I think he's wasted too far down the order so I'd have him at 4 myself.

Morgan
Collingwood

The allrounders now. This is where it gets really competitive for places.
Dimi/Bresnan/Broad/Wright. Broad is a lock in at either 7 or 8 IMO. Or in fact you could bring in a specialist batsmen to bat at 6. Maybe Bopara to come out and just play some shots? He looks too weighed down at the top of the order. Napier probably deserves to be ahead of Wright atm but there's no doubt in my mind Wright will be a fantastic player in the future. Obviously if Flintoff's fit he goes straight in at 6 with Wright/Dimi at 7.

???/Bopara/Rashid/Flintoff/Dimi/Wright
Dimi/Wright/Rashid
Broad
Swann

Now we look at the bowlers, Onions played 1 List A game last summer if I remember correctly. Don't really think he deserves his place in the squad, let alone the starting XI. I personally rate Sidebottom really highly (as some of you may have noticed) so I'd definitely lock him in for the OD stuff. I personally feel as though Anderson's spot in the team is seriously in question now. He's not performed all that well for a considerable length of time now. Bresnan has shown he's more than capable with the ball and has been one of our steadiest performers over the last few games.

Bresnan/Jimmeh
SiBo

So My XI looks like this

   1. Davies
   2. Strauss
   3. Trott
   4. Morgan
   5. Collingwood
   6. Wright
   7. Mascarenhas
   8. Broad
   9. Swann
  10. Bresnan
  11. Sidebottom

Bats down to 10 and Sidebottom is no mug. With 5-11 all recognised bowling options.

Dimi is nothing special, he can bowl dont get me wrong, but he cant exactly bat in an ODI format.

He's a good ODI bowler during the middle orders, won't take a bucket load of wickets but nibbles it off the seam and generally keeps it tight. He's a hdny bat, he won't fire every game but he has the potential to explode... 30 runs from the final 5 balls of an England v India ODI in '07 off Yuvraj?

hes kept himself in the team due to his bowling, and hes the sort of cricketer who will turn up one day and
just explode with the bat, which is why he should be in the side, however i wud pik wrighty over mascernhas due to the fact he is a more reliable and a much better looking batsmen, and he is a good death bowler

Yeah, in an ideal situation I would only have one of them in my side, as I said if Fred was fit he'd be at 6.
Could make a case for Bopara at 6, just tell him to play his shots with freedom. He's gets far too bogged down at the top of the order.
