Might not actually be good advertising with me using it!

You used Chase bats when you played for Derbyshire, Paul?

Yes that's right. I started with gray nicholls and was with them for 2 or 3 years but a lot of the general Joe Schmo players got the elbow when the World Cup came over in the 90s and it was all last minute so had no sponsor but luckily robin smith sorted me out as I used to get on well with him and at that time he chatted about going to Hampshire so was good to me and I obviously thought he was a legend which of course he is. Should have gone really but loyalty was to Derbyshire. A good and a bad thing in some ways loyalty, it's not always reciprocal. There's not much of that these days unfortunately.

I regret that I missed your career, Paul. Not just yours, but everyone else's in that era. :o

You didn't miss much by not seeing me.  :D.
My fielding used to help me a lot as gave me a bit of an edge over others. But I was in and out depending on if the internationals were playing as we had a load of them at derby so it was tuff for a young guy trying to make his way then we had Malcolm cork defreitas. I had one great year in 99 where I got capped having taken 50 wickets from mid July, I had been out with a displaced fracture of the ribs should have been out for 12 weeks but they had me bowling in 3 as everyone was injured and it gave me a chance to open the bowling week in week out. Was a very memorable time and will stay with me forever

You lived the dream mate. - It was a tough team to get into in those days.

Two grade 3 bats shaped up one with full spine and one our new shape. Just waiting for the stickers to be printed for the new shape and am very excited to get them as I reckon they will look great.
Both these will come out 2-12 dressed.

Hi Paul,

Apologies for the dumb question; I'm pretty new to the forum and to your brand, but is your 'new shape' the top bat, with what appears to be a mid/low middle? Both look utterly stunning at any grade, let alone Grade 3!

Cheers,
Ian

Our website is currently being redone for 2014 so what is on there at the moment is going to change. We are making the silver sovereigns into the shape with the spine down to the toe, the gold sovereigns are going to be a similar shape to the silvers but the spine won't run to the toe it will be blended out the supreme range will stay the same and our new shape which I haven't revealed the name as yet will be another addition. What we are doing is making every shape available in every grade so it will be players grade, grade 1,2,3 and butterfly. Hope that makes sense all will become clear soon as when the new stickers come for the new shape I will show you the pics instantly. And we will do junior sizes from size 4 up in all ranges too
I hope this idea will give all you guys a greater choice of shapes and a full choice of quality willow in your preferred price range.

No we are not selling just clefts to individuals I am afraid at the moment as we are so busy that our demand is too great which is good for us but not the answer you were looking for I am afraid
