This has probably been asked before so please don't start swearing at me!

How long do you give a bat before you finally move it on??

I have a Woodstock Tour De Force (now stickered as a Neon after a  re-furb) that I just haven't got on with.

In the winter nets last year I loved it, but in matches something just hasn't 'clicked'.
It's a really lovely bat and performs exceptionally, so I'd love to keep hold of it, but if I can't get on with it, what is the point??

I probably didn't use it as much as I could have done last year, so I was going to try again next season, starting with indoor cricket and the winter nets.

How long should I persist trying to get on with her before I move on??

That's what I was thinking haha, but everywhere else I'm assuming people don't have another 10 bats to chose from

I was going to mate and I'm planning to give it a proper go, but if it doesn't work for me, what stage do I concede defeat??
It's a quality stick so I really would like to get on with it

Net with it, play indoors then give it 10 matches no matter what. See what happens

I'd keep plugging for midweek games / practice and then store it away if it still doesn't feel good. Then when you're struggling with another bat then it might turn out to be the perfect remedy (I had this with my Redback).

If it's as lovely as you say, it would be a shame to sell it for a loss.

The problem is switching bats.

You need to use one only for a long time and you will get used to it.

Wehave it the wrong way on here, we try to find the bat that is right, when all we need is time and patience.

Although, if thespecs are to liking,I might advise you to sell.

That's what I was thinking buddy, I'm hoping it comes good for me eventually.
In the nets it went like a tramp on chips, it pings beautifully and there doest seem to be a dead spot. Sadly I haven't had this in a match yet (possibly because I haven't got my eye in when I start swinging).

I did use it when I was sent in to get quick runs and hit a six I didn't feel come off the bat, but that was the last game of the season so I might have left it too late.

As a side note I have to say Woodstock bats really are top quality, if highly recommend one (especially now you can get them through a forum sponsor).

I could be barking up the wrong tree, but something that the bat may feel great in nets is because of the surface you are playing on and where the middle is.  On slower lower tracks that we generally play on during the summer maybe the bat just doesn't suit how you play.

As said, maybe persistance and you getting used to the bat might work, or maybe the bat doesn't suit the way you play and its time to move on.

I've used it in outdoor nets that are slow and low so mirror pitches and it seemed fine, just something about using it when I get out to the middle.
Maybe it's just a psychological thing but I can't put my finger on it...

you need to give the bat a minimum of 10 innings

We are in a disposable age - when we are used to throwing things out before we have even really used them.
On here bats get blamed when most people can use almost anything as out in the middle. When the adrenalin is pumping it doesn't really matter what you are using.
The doubts are only really there for the first 15 mins on an innings, when you should be focussed on playing yourself in and keeping it simple, not worrying if your bat is any good.

Have you thought of making a subtle change to the bat which could give you the belief you need?

A strip of lead tape around the handle before you bat?

I'm most likely over complicating things though

The grip/handle setup is perfect as it is haha, last thing I need is additional weight (I carry enough for me & my bat!)
