Not that I've watched much IPL over the years but I think the last few I've seen have more and more home based players and less overseas? Lots of older 'stars' just there for the cash. Not that I know about the standard but I doubt the IPL is that good compared to others.

I've watched every year. The standard in terms of other t20 competitions is certainly the highest.

Indians seems to take to this game well, so there is a lot of home grown stars, but every team always fills there quota of foreign players allowed in the side(I believe it's 4 out of the eleven currently)
And they are often having to rotate them as they have 6-7 foreigners in each squad.

Off the top of my head

WI- gayle, bravos, Samuels, Sammy, roach, smith
SA- kallis, steyn, morkels, duminy, petersen, de villiers, dunplesis
Aus- Faulkner, Johnston, hogde, Watson, Warner, maxwell, finch, henriques, husseys, smith
Sri Lanka- sangakarra, dilshan, kulsakerra, jaywardene, Malinga,
New Zealand- Taylor, mcullum, vettori, Rutherford

That's just off top of my head, and there's some definate world stars in there, along with a few at the end of there carreers, but can Definately cut it at t20 still.

There are also a lot of young Australians padding out the sides.

Buttler just gone to 50 of 27 balls. Some sweet hitting.

He's gone from supporting Finch to outscoring him.

Just about to post the same thing. I guess now it's the New Year we might see quite a few guys signing on with different manufacturers, but then again I would've thought his contract might've expired at the conclusion of the Australian summer in March?

Full new balance kit, shame as I liked his puma stuff. New contract for 2014 it seems.

I wonder who makes nb's Southern Hemisphere bats?

Saw plenty of NB around in Aus when I was there, seems pretty popular. Saw plenty of the new spikes and others kitted out in pads bat and gloves

Anyone else rate Gilly as a commentator? I think he's excellent, would do a far better job in the sky studio than Warne & Strauss. Looks at the game in an interesting way. Top bloke

I've enjoyed both gilly and ponting as commentators during the bbl. very interesting insights into the game.

Gilly's been excellent.  A lot of former pros, whilst being able to provide insight, have unbelievably annoying voices.  Sorry Strauss!  He's also a lot more likeable than Warne.
