We all know they will be great bats BUT once again I am underwhelmed by the willow aesthetics used by Gray Nicolls (Lots of sponsored players - They get all the 'Beautiful' willow?).

Don't get me wrong... I am a performance over looks man (That's why I have two Lavers and two M&H as my match bats).

What's your best selling bat of this off season/2014 range then?

Great shout.

I reckon its a Gunn and Moore or Gray Nicolls.

A Six6 or Oblivion?

I currently have, and have picked in the past plenty of beautiful GN bats. I picked these 2 Test Oblivion E41's because they tapped up like trampolines. Here are a few recent GN stunners in terms of aesthetics, note they aren't all top end. The Nemesis is a custom made from top willow although it carries the players sticker. ( I'm not counting the bat on the left in the first picture by the way ;) )

Bubble or Six6, not sure exactly.

Soulman owns the Oblivion pictured on its own, i can't remember who had the Powerbow.

I don't take a bat that i don't think will perform. Some bats feel hard to start with, but will get going with time as they are used, my own Laver being a prime example. But when a bat is dead or has a tiny middle you can notice it quite quickly. I think part of the skill (if handpicking is a skill) is knowing the difference. I haven't been in the industry terribly long but the more i do this the more confident i feel about picking good bats for customers. I have received plenty of nice reviews/comments from customers recently so hopefully i am getting it right. :)

It is rare, but some stunningly beautiful bats can be poor performers. I remember knocking in a Kahuna Players for someone ( not purchased from us ;) ) that was very pleasing on the eye, but total driftwood to use. I spent a lot of time trying with the mallet and also on the bowling machine as i really wanted such a nice bat to be good, but it just wasn't.

I retract my previous statement!

The Powerbow 5* looks better than my mates LE!

The oblivion e41 I have got from Jake is my bat of the season from off shelf companies. It is better than a large amount of LE bats I have seen. It also plays very very well as do most GN bats to be fair to GN in my view there pressing of each cleft to achieve maximum performance is very good.

I've got an oblivion LE and it goes like stink, it's no where near as good looking as those from Jake though. If they were heavier I'd be seriously tempted, only thing is the one I've got is around 2.13 and the pick up is way lighter, so these will probably pick up like 2.7

I WANT ONE!
Sadly having 3 other Gray Nicolls bats means I can't justify the purchase :(
