They showed a close up of Warner's bat and it may or may not have had a light coating of oil on it.

The only thing certain is that he has no scuff sheet and while grains are straightish, the bat face did have a blemish that would not pass muster on this forum of self appointed "experts".

Healey commented that Warner told him (Healey) that he is still old school and prefers to oil his bats as opposed to all the other players who do not.

That was it.

The bat also looked like a L&W in shape...but maybe I am wrong.

The bat had a small pin knot about 4-5" from the toe near the inside edge for a left hander, maybe an inch or so from the edge, approx 12 straight grains and looked to be oiled with no scuff sheet which he apparently said to Healey he is old school and prefers to oil his bats unlike other players who just scuff. Healey also mentioned the oil hardens the face a little. That's if I remember correctly of course.

Surely Warner can't be the only international player who oils their bats!

I guess if you don't have to pay for your bats you are less likely to care about longevity.

Yeah, that is about the cut of it #4.

Did the shape look like an LW to you...or am I just seeing things?

He had heartwood too from memory...

It was almost half heartwood on the left handers outside edge and all of his bats have looked a little L&W.

Don't suppose anybody got a screenshot of the bat did they?

interesting to hear it had a pin knot, from what I've been told the area around them on the bat will be harder so not necessarily a bad thing to have on the bat. But I get the impression people would be put off by one.

The pin knot was curiously lower on the bat and close to the inside edge.

The heart wood was on the outside edge and was quite noticeable.

In terms of shape. Although a little laver esque. It looks very similar to the beast that goerge bailey has. Which is also a gn.

Maybe this is gn aus new style of bat and the pros liking it?

Couldn't see the pin knot on the video :(, the bat goes lovely though!

Agree with Vic on the Laver shape, doesn't look like a Laver toe though. Will see if I can find a photo form his half century when he held his bat up.

Maybe it is a Laver Toe, different bat to the one he used to the first ODI.

Same pic,

It's a gray nics to me. Custom made for the pros. Baileys smaller bats are the same shape. I've seen a few more that shape in the big bash for gn players too.

Hopefully they'll release it toot he public(baileys stickers have changed to matrix? So could be this shape)

He obviously must choose the heartwood bats.  Can anyone think of another international player who choose heartwood bats?

As an aside.. the commentator on that video mentions Warner's "Half cut, half drive"... do you think we could shorten that to a "hive"?

Also one should drive when half cut... watch out guys is comedy hour here on CBF
