First reply and not selected. Harsh!

Sorry if that appears to be the case. Some people contacted me directly, some posted etc. Essentially most of last years team who made themselves available were picked. On top of winning (to our surprise) and simply making their time available, they all behaved themselves and created the right impression. I felt this was important going forward.

Another reason was balance. Being a "bat" forum, we really didn't need anybody else who wanted to bat.We were all knackered trying to bowl 56 overs with 4 bowlers last year and hence Tim (as good as bat as he might be) was needed. I didn't want to pick people and not give them a game or bat them 9, if they didn't bowl. A couple of the other guys can also bowl/bat so hopefully everybody will get involved.

I've noted your observation and will stick you on the reserve list. Nothing to stop anybody not selected from coming down for the day. Last year we ended up 2 short at the last minute.

P.s I'm a bowler and chase the ball like a Labrador (all be it an obese one) in the field!  :D

Scrap that, work getting in the way of cricket again. Bloody parents booking the summer holiday off to look after their kids!  :(

You'd think that with a forum with a few hundred active members, you'd mix it up a bit. Not just give the same 11 the chance over and over again .
Makes it seem cliquey.

I bowl. As I'm sure others do. But was any asked? Or was it just a case of picking someone you knew?

and is it me or did the guy that no showed last year. Gotten a game again?
If so that's just plain wrong on others wanting to play.

It's a shame that these games come up in harvest :( I will ask at my club if next year we could have a game for the cbf guys as my club has slowly started to have a poor cricket week and this would spice it up

Wahey!!! Here we go!

Don't panic Smiler, traditionally on these sorts of games people drop out - or as you quite rightly stated - don't turn up. So there may be a few spots opening up for those who are nice to the selection committee.

Oh.

Hope you all enjoy the game, was good last year. Unfortunately I've only just seen this thread, and am on holiday on 14th anyway. Would have been keen to go back otherwise!

All right for England, they'll always have a game against someone. We won't get asked back if we don't behave ourselves  ;)

Is anyone planning on travelling down on the Wednesday night as me and Byo could well be in the vicinity for a few beers and a curry to save a 6am departure from Bristol on Thursday ???
