Was Root beaten for pace or just misjudged the ball coming in? It seemed like he was really really late playing the ball. Just saw the replays.

Bit of Both, beaten for pace and it did came back in. Could have been out before that though with a Few balls dropping short of the fielder.

As most people would know by now Root is a back foot player. Struggles to get forward and that's his downfall at this level.

(No Swearing Please) useless Bopara.

Can't expect him to do much. Top order batted too slow.
12 boundaries so far in the Innings isn't good enough

If a miracle does happen, 284 is the highest odi run chase.

He didn't need to chip it to mid wicket. England are nicely set, Bell and Morgan set a good platform, typical Bopara.

England's tactics of seeing off the new ball and then exploding in the latter overs will always mean they don't score as many boundaries in the first 30. Whether that's the right tactics or not is highly questionable outside of England.

If Morgan and Buttler bat to their capabilities we will get the much needed 300.

If Morgan hangs around he could really go at the end, but England need to get in with up.... Come on the mighty Aussies!

Given those tactics, the powerplay in effect and 2 batsmen to come, bopara is expected to go and play shots.

With England packing the batting and weakening the bowling line up, that tactic is wrong.
You had the top 4 struggle to get maxwell off the square, for him to bowl 8 overs for less than 4rpo is just poor

Agree completely with the tactics being all wrong but Bopara had just hit a brilliant straight 6. No need for anything other than a straight bat and carry on. It's a very poor shot for an experienced one day player.

Carberry could be the man to split up the plodders and a horrendously out of form Root. I think you can put a lot more pressure on the fielding captain with the new rules. Expect Australia with Warner/Finch to go hard early doors, a positive start to any innings usually makes 300 plus a cake walk under the new fielding regs.

Yup agreed it's a soft dismissal for him. Would much rather see either Bopara or Morgan come in at 3/4 and show some intent in the middle.
Some hitting by Morgan at the moment.

England looking good here, might be a good run chase tonight. Morgan going off.
