Why do you train with different kit ? And in particular a different bat ? Just interested in the theory.

I don't use my match bat ATM in nets as its on its (No Swearing Please) so save it for scoring runs in games (if possible)

most at my club have least two bats. a few have a selection. bit there's one guy that only has one and swore buy only having one.

until the handle went floppy in a game. so he had to ask to borrow a bat. to take the piss. we got every bat out the changing room and 3 of us took them to middle for him to choose.

he never even looked just grabbed the first and got on with it

I have a training bat and a match bat. This year I have 2 GM Six6.
Last year I had a chase 175 beluga and an old school GM purist.
I like having a training and a match bat but try have to have the same/similar profiles.

Is he a bowler?? I'd have taken ages to chose one if I been offered that many ;)

bower and batsmen(bats 4). he scored over a 1000 league runs last year and took 73wickets. and he's only 22. he's just not into bats but then his salix he had was an awesome bat anyway. who needs more?...........

More, I need at least 3 (match bat, net bat and wet weather/emergency bat)

After having one break in a match I thought your mate would carry at least 2 from that point on!

I don't really understand the net bat thing unless your club are using poor quality balls in nets and then yes it's a great idea.

I can't think of another sport where a player would practice with different equipment than they play with ?

This. I'm pretty sure the net bat thing is a myth perpetuated by certain makers to get more money out of you. The ex-pros I know all use the same kit training as in a match.

While I agree with this sentiment, Strauss and others say that they use their new bats in nets to get up to the level of their no 1 bat.

I can understand a pro maybe as they have bats that are identical in shape, pick up etc etc and are playing every day of the week but for the club player I would say practice with the bat that you are going to use on a Saturday and get used to it. When it breaks move onto a new bat.

I have to agree 100% with mr bulldog! seems a bit mental to keep chopping and changing bats one day from the next

To elaborate i suspect many people on this forum suffer from loss of form through swapping bats and changing from game to game basis.

great post Keiron
