Partnership with Glamorgan Cricket and Gray Nicolls
« on: January 19, 2014, 09:49:03 PM »

I'm delighted to announce a new partnership with Glamorgan Cricket to become the official licensee for Glamorgan Cricket merchandise.  Some of you may already know this, but the official announcement was released by Glamorgan on their web site last week: http://www.glamorgancricket.com/news/3404.php#.UtxEY_vLcrg

Glamorgan Chief Executive Hugh Morris said, "The opening of the new shop and this new partnership with Aswani in tandem with Grays is great news for Glamorgan supporters, as Arvind and his team offer a full range of leading brand cricket products to complement the range of official Glamorgan merchandise supplied by Gray-Nicolls.

We look forward to the store opening and working with Aswani Sports International to provide Glamorgan supporters, as well as Welsh cricket players and teams with the number one place to purchase cricket products."

We will be running the online store for the merchandise, starting with a small range of Gray Nicolls branded clothing. All embellishment on top of the basic Gray Nicolls garments, including Glamorgan logo and any personalisation, will be done by us.  Gray Nicolls is the official kit supplier to Glamorgan Cricket.

The merchandise is available online now and will be in-store at the SWALEC Stadium in Cardiff once the store re-opens before the season starts. In due course, a small range will also feature in the new Welsh sports shop (air side duty) at Cardiff airport.

Congratulations,

Any chance you will be bringing some stock up to North Wales when Glamorgan play in Colwyn Bay? There is a complete void of any kind of cricket stores up here.

Congratulations Arvind. When's the CBF day out at Glamorgan?

Thank you all. It's currently scheduled for Sat 1st March, awaiting final confirmation from Glamorgan regarding the stadium tour, as it's St. David's day and likely the staff may be quite busy with events.

Yes, we'll be trying our best to do that. It is a big challenge ahead of us to manage the various match days from the County games which are generally poorly attended, to the T20s to the England v India ODI in August when there will be a packed house. The relationship with Glamorgan management has been really great so far and we want to make it a real partnership.

It would be great to get your feedback on the kind of things that members in North Wales want to see. Please PM me if appropriate.

Arvind,

It's difficult this year as there is no one day game, only a 4 dayer, which doesn't get anywhere near the same attendance. A lot of the local clubs used the one day game as an excuse for a day out, and you would probably have been able to shift some equipment there, but I doubt you would shift much during the 4 day game, possibly just a few caps, jumpers, the odd replica top etc.

If you are contractually obliged to provide a shop at all county games and have to come up North you could probably do some extra business by setting up a pop up shop at one of the local clubs after play has finished at the county game, though to be honest I have no idea how well attended it would be.

Not much help I'm afraid, but if you do have any questions let me know.

There's no contractual obligation to go to Colwyn Bay or Swansea ... and in fact Glamorgan did say we would not gain much out of it, if anything, as the cost of van hire, travel and possibly accommodation will probably be more than the sales. But let's see, we may try say for the first 2 days and make sure people know about it in advance.
