Not surprised, Rammy is quite fond of the short ball!!

Yes he is isn't he, in the first game, four out of six pitched inside his half of the pitch. He bounced a couple of others out in the innings, I went in at 22 for 4.  They had a guy called Owain Jones, who plays for Oxford University opening at the other end. They ripped the top order apart. Luckily, our overseas saved us from disgrace. I was out at 31 for 7 and we ended up with 177, which they got for 8.  Always a close game against Steyning and they are good lads.

Quite funny how he likes the short ball, he's not the tallest!  Seemed a decent guy aswell.

We got our revenge in the second game.  Another close one, we won by 1 run !

Yeah we often have trouble bowling out the tail because he can't pitch it full enough to pin the stumps!

He's a top bloke, hard competitor on the pitch, but friendly off it. How all cricketers should act.

Like all fast bowlers he does have a temper though, wouldn't want to get on his wrong side!

Johnny Maynard 'the dentist' in the nets in his pomp 20 years ago, Mohammed Akram in a match. Maynard played for our club and was scarely quick, at the time he had been recorded in the Windies Red Stripe magazine as the fastest bowler in the carribean and this was when they had Ambrose, Walsh, Patterson et al.  During cup games our keeper and slips had to ask the umpires permission to stand outside the fielding circle.

The fastest perceived pace I've ever faced was Chris Jordan when playing against Dulwich College in 2005, we were 16/17 so perhaps a bit of romanticism on my part of the fastest but it sure as hell was the fastest I'd faced then!

Maynard was a legend and still comes down to play the odd cricket week game for us. We played our local rivals in a league match when he was with us, they had a quick from Barbados, apparently neither island (leewards & barbados) got on so they tried to outpace each other, neither team reached 100! It was carnage.

Jermaine Lawson
Andrew Richardson
Franklin Rose

Rose was only going half speed in the nets.......but on the concrete it was fast enough! I was only 16 or 17 at the time so I'm sure he took it easy on me. Played against Jermaine "Lagga" Lawson and Andrew "Richie" Richardson in school cricket in Jamaica. Faced Lawson with no cup on because I had forgot my jock strap at home that day. So he did me a favour and only bowled balls aimed to take my head off lol. Richie has a natural out swing with a nice smooth action. He's a bit of a hot head though and really doesn't appreciate being pulled by opening batsmen which I found out to my peril.

I faced fidel edwards' cousin in barbados, bowling down the hill with the wind, clocked 88.7 mph, it was very sharp and my opening partner garnered some very brown trousers and a cracked lid for his troubles.

jade dernbach, we knew he was playing so practiced with the bowling machine cranked up and people bowling of 18 yards. i still didnt see the first over, i thought at the time he was purposly not aiming at the stumps but having since seen him play for england i can conclude he cant hit them anyway

http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/content/player/52501.html

John Maynard was a bowler who epitomised the era of out-and-out Caribbean pace, genuinely fast and aggressive. "If you can't get them out, you gotta hurt them till they get out," he once said. "I think I've pretty much broken every part of the body so far, from the teeth to the jaw, to the nose, to the ribs, to the arms and the toes. I never worry about hurting them at the time."  :o

Cordy - i don't think i ever kept to him actually, i didn't keep much when i was out there. kept to David Harrison once last season though, was on a right pudding of a deck and it carried to my ankles!

The person who made me sh*t my pants most tho was my cousin - current county pro. he's 6'4 and bowls about 81mph, so when he drops a bumper in you know it's gonna hit you in the bonce ;)
