(But I was the kid who got bullied at school because I had Gola trainers so I'm not the best judge by whats already been posted here...)

Clearly you are one of the few who have any idea. Going by Paul @IJC's thoughts no forum member has any clue what they are talking about when it comes to cricket gear.

Think they look poor, are they really that good that they are going make people come away from Adidas/Asics/Nike/NB? Price may be cheaper but quality wise it will be interesting to see where they stand.  Having said that Adidas shoes quality is poor this year!!!

Paul, you've been a little rude to the majority of forum members here, implying that they know nothing about what is a good product as every contentious item that you've seen on the forum has sold well.

I think you may have done them a disservice, as most of the contention has not come from the products rather the marketing, branding or communication.

Whilst many have picked up on the colour schemes for w3, I'd be very wary about buying footwear specifically without knowing the pedigree of the shoe designer, especially for more technical footwear.

Do you have this information from w3?

I personally think Paul's comments have been taken out of context. To me it was just a lite ribbing, based on the the fact the educated forum members tend to buy differently to the un educated cricketers on the street.

I personally didn't take it as an insult, maybe there's a few that are a tad sensitive on here?

It's partly tongue in cheek, partly fact.  I have all the information I need on the company, where they are manufactured, ownership etc. and unlike others on here, I am confident in their quality.  I will be wearing these shoes for the 2014 season myself, if the fit is good and if they prove to impress me as much in the flesh as they have in the photos.  As I said in an earlier post, the confirmation of our stock order is conditional on this as well, so I don't feel my homework on the brand should be questioned publicly.

Looking at the website and digitally altered photographs on their website, I see nothing saying I should buy them or even take a second look. What do these have above the specialists of Asics, Nike & Adidas? Or over the generic trainer styles from Slaz/Kook/GM. Even looking at the founders or current owners, I see no knowledge or experience in producing footwear which gives me great confidence.

I am surprised IJC are now so confident in them, considering yesterday they knew nothing about them and haven't even seen them in the flesh. But, both Bulldog/IJC know their onions so there must have presented some great compelling facts on what their plans are, and what the product is about - perhaps we may understand, and be more likely to purchase/consider them, if some of those could be shared with the forum and prospective buyers.

Tom. I don't know the science behind the w3 shoes but then again I don't know the science behind asics, Adidas etc shoes as I expect not many do. All I do know is have have seen them in the flesh, I have tried them on, they feel nice and look good which is not something that I have found easy to find in cricket shoes and hence why I have always had spike trainers.

I like the spike configuration for one - it's a bit different to most and likely to be comfortable and lightweight as a result.  I also think the design on the sole looks great.  It just looks well made too.  These are the kind of shoes that can be worn by most cricketers, bar maybe pace bowlers and those who prefer bowling boots.  Finally, I don't think a company would be as specialist as this without offering a quality product.  This company only makes cricket shoes at the moment, so they can put all their time and attention into cricket shoes, unlike all of the big boys, where cricket is more of a side offering...

I guess to me this shoe just looks like a generic Chinese spike, which all the major UK brands stick their logo on. Would this have any interest if there was a Kookakburra logo on it?

A mould for a trainer/Shoe costs a fair whack to make so a small brand such as w3 would share it with other brands as an "off the shelf option".

If you think that they have to come in the range of sizes + half sizes you could spend tens of thousands of $$ on the sole alone before even beginning to look at the upper.The design reminds me more of a squash shoe than a cricket design but until you see them on the shelf or in the flesh its hard to tell what they will be like.

Court shoes / tennis shoes make some of the best cricket shoes when spiked up. Trescothic has used Asic court shoes spiked for as long as I can remember.

Yeah id have no issue with that, the only downside i can see fro ma design perspective is the use of mesh for indoor shoes for ventilation where as outdoors you may end up with wet feet if there is still a bit of dew around.

I agree, although I do (sort of) like all the negative feedback, as I've said, it is nice to see that someone like Kieron is so impressed with them.  If I was literally the only person on here who liked them, I probably would be much less convinced!

It would be funny if, after all this, I'm not impressed when I see them in the flesh!

Dont most cricket shoes have mesh of some sort ? certainly the new Nike and Asics ones look like they do.

I think that is why Trescothic always had court shoes spiked as the ones he uses are all leather and offer more support and protection than a trainer. Probably quite important as an opening bat !!

Are people quite snobby when it comes to cricket shoes ? I think we all are as I bet not many wear a Slazenger or Kook shoe ?

Yes Paul I think they are good. Im very fussy with shoes. Most of the Asics i find too narrow fitting. The adidas ones are too big and clumpy, Not tried the new Nike ones but they look nice. The W3 ones felt good. I would have to see what they are like batting in but they seemed excellent on first impression.

Both my kids have GM shoes (as they were cheap.....tight Dad) but I tell you they are fantastic shoes, very light and well protected which is just what kids need.

Again I bet not many wearing GM shoes ?

I've got a pair of kook spikes, very comfortable but I have bought a pair of asics for this season
