I know what you mean but then it goes to the age old argument of what does one brand class as a grade 1 and what does another….. add in to that the cost of machinery premises and space to make the bat from the cleft….
Then you could argue that the JCB tractor cost a fair amount to hire/buy, hence the pricing! As to the grading, Rob knows his stuff, and if you're suggesting that his top grade isn't graded to the same standard as Salix, I'd suggest you look through some of the Blue Room bats here.
I like Salix and RP, so not having a dig (No pun intended) at all, just thought I would use it as an example. Look at the Kudos SPS too, crafted in the same way RP makes his stock shaped bats, except £80-100 more expensive. Now, we can sit here and argue about prices, or just face it, stickers and brand strength sells bats, and are the reason why these three bat makers, despite them being some of the best in the trade, demand different prices.
