Gentleman what date is it ? ah 2014 how would you dig a drainage ditch today with a pick and shovel I think not JCB more like having clefts part machined and finished by hand is common sense in my mind the two most important things in a cricket bat is the pressing and the pick up both done by hand Mr Pack quite clearly achieves this as his end product is second to none. Good luck this season

Interesting comments regarding bat making versus bat finishing. The title of the video is 'bat making', which is where I took the title of the thread from. A

Nice video can please some people on here even if gold bars given away for free . hats of to all the bat makers finshers or what ever thats how they roll they still need skills to do it and to put bread on the table top work lots of love deano

I'm not sure people are questioning him in terms of what he does, I certainly am not but I just feel the video doesn't show what he can do. I'm sure time is precious for him but if your going to spend 13 mins highlighting what you can do I think it would be better served doing something other than sanding and stickering a bat. Maybe that is a little harsh but I definitely think he is under selling himself in the Video.

Most people do not care and for a youtube video it what most want to see not everybody are bat badgers and just because they see a slither of a grip around the handle assume so much

I thought the video was good and my mate who knows nothing about bats bar hittig balls to boundaries wanted one after watching the video.

Think sometimes we over think things I think it is a great video .

No claims made either in it jus a simple bat Making video to 95 per cent of people

Very well said, and lets not forget that even a pre-shaped cleft has to have been shaped by someone and I see many instances on here, where comments are given as to how badly a bat has been finished, so even thats an art. I don't know too much about his brand and range, but lets learn to appreciate.

The point I was trying to get across,(unsuccessfully it would seem?), is that the title says bat making.
It's not quite bat 'making' is it? It's finishing off a pre made . And from the excellent video, he does this to a very high standard

As for some people wanting 'free gold bars,or whatever', , no, I just want what it says on the tin

I also have posted on another thread, that I couldn't give a monkeys how the bat I choose to purchase is made.
I have an Affinity,Laver,Jedi, and would love an Aldred or three,and as an engineer,am hugely appreciative of B3,s stunning looking bats.
All the above bats are made using a variety of manufacturing techniques to arrive at what I want to purchase.

I was trying to post an opinion , not criticise anyone's bat making abilities.

I think the monkey of the north makes a fair point. No one is criticising Rob, so there is no need to jump to his defence.

The comments are 'it would have been nice to see more actual making in the video. It's a fair comment for a for a forum full of Willow-botherers!

Everyone seems to love Robs stuff, chill out men, we're not in Woodstock territory here

I also think that whoever is making these videos should consider paying for the background music � you can hear Audio Jungle's copy protection every few seconds. Seems a bit cheeky.

If I pay someone to dig a trench out and they charge me more because they say they are going to do it by hand as it is harder work, then go and do it with a JCB and charge me the same money.... i'd be less than impressed....
