I think it is interesting the opinions of people... Plus how nerdy some of us are in noticing the little quirks about batmakers.
Yes, they are Hunts County.
I had them made to the shape of my two of my three favourite bats - BC Joker Extreme and M&H Amplus (Other being the Newbery Mjolnir).
Bat 1 - Joker Extreme Shape
2lb12oz
9 grains
Oval Handle
40mm Edges
60mm Spine
Minimal Concaving
As some of you know, I smashed my BC Joker Extreme into three pieces just before Xmas (Batting like a t***) - I had a few great offers but Hunts agreed to make me a grade 1 for a bargain so took them up on the offer.
NB. I have no idea why the outside edge is slightly shorter - Speaking to Jake, it is not a shape Hunts ever get asked to make so probably a production issue, but apart from the eagle-eyed amongst us, not really noticeable.
Bat 2 - M&H Amplus Shape
2lb10oz
12 grains
Oval Handle
36mm Edges
58mm Spine
No Concaving
This bat literally is immense - was really impressed when I removed it from the box. I have always wanted a Hunts County, but as a kid, the pricing was right up there with Newbery etc. Never had a problem with Hunts County, but like most kids - I just preferred the Newbery stickers... And playing for Berkshire, all the kids were rich, private school Charlie's so was just Newbery, with their bohemian looks and style.
Overall...
I would like to say, the service I got from Steve and Matt at Hunts County was as good as anyone I have ever had bats from before. Really nice guys, a well run outfit and put up with me changing my mind (and specs) on a daily basis.
Very rarely (Only from John @ Red Ink) have I experienced a brand who gives you what you actually ask for. I asked for 12 grains, got 12 grains. Asked for heartwood on the outside edge, got heartwood... The list goes on.
I REALLY wish they would just sort out their marketing (Advertising, Branding etc) though as they really are the sleeping giant of the cricket world. I feel they are missing out on loads of lovely revenue.
