StrettonFox Sports

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to post a page on CBF on the new launch of Stretton Fox Collections.

As some people know, the majority of my career prior to Cricket was working in France for a large luxury group as a designer for fabric and product development. In most areas of fashion there are brands creating product seen as a reference point for quality and focus of design. In menswear one can refer to high end watch companies or upper end fashion. This creates firstly an enormous amount of desire (fast cars etc!..) then continual movement and filtering process which then works its way through different categories of product and retailer until later overtaken by the new seasonal releases and so on !

I'm not trying to say that this is the new Richard Mille ! but there is an enormous lack of focus in cricket on the luxury goods end of the scale. Partly as this may not be the primary source for cricket income, but this is a game we are passionate about, where bats are hand crafted out of willow so how much more personalised and crafted does it need to get !! Hopefully this much !

Mass produced "performance" goods are perfect for the category they represent, but the focus on high-end watches for example is that these last a lifetime, passing through from father to son, it's a tribute to the craftsmen who are able to make items to such a high quality, items which will get better with time and almost become part of the family.

A cricket bat can be made in the UK by someone with 25+ years experience and not just mass produced for the masses, the same level of detail and experience should be applicable to other areas of kit.

The first edition of 50 cases is made from Argentinean Taurillon-Clemence, it is naturally prepared and not chemically treated/bonded or tampered with in any way to make it cheap, this is rare and hard to get hold of, Hermes currently use it in their womens handbag collections and prices are upwards of thousands + so I thought this would be a good point to set the bar !, the next planned collection is looking to use either Croc or Python, again all real, and no corners cut whatsoever.

I hope this doesn't come across as a shameless pun ! but When something quite new comes out it's worth a statement !

Thanks again everyone for your continual support, i'll always keep pushing to keep it new !
George

I saw the bat cover at the Vitas event and although it would be the most extravagant thing I have ever seen in cricket it has a place and why not bring it to the market. The quality was unreal for a bat cover.

I know some will probably go berserk at a bat cover at this price and say how this can't be done etc but personally well done George and best of luck mate.

I understand the idea and great idea targeting that market

Do I want one: yes
Would I actually buy one: give me a minute
Can I see these selling: definitely
Re - would I buy one: that depends if I get an email saying if I won the lottery  :-[

I mentioned stretton bat covers as I wanted better protection for my bats. But I can't afford this! Lol.
I'd happily pay around 40 for top protection for a 40 quid bat. But that is my limit. And it would need to be special for that.

Not saying you built these mainly for my suggestion, you probably had they idea anyway.

Good luck, I'm sure they'll sell, as the people that can afford will want the best, and this Definately are that,

As long as I get a free cover to protect the bat cover, I will be happy  :D

It will certainly appeal to the likes who do their weekly shopping at harvey nichs and frequent stores like harrods.

I once got a similar high quality case for my phone and it was a thing of beauty. But at that time I was a rich student and had no family to feed.

They look more fashion designer than cricket!
But they'll all sell quickly no doubt! Just not my bank accounts cup of tea

At 10% of a top line bat, if it protected properly. It would be a sound investment imo.

Ive had ca, bas, gm, gn, kook
, b3, affinity etc etc.

Yet my bats all seem to get dints in the back while in my bag. The current cases do not protect.

This is amazing! Absolutely love the idea!

I have an idea: It is about time a bat maker, or individual, came out with a snooker cue type case for bats! Quality hardwood and meant for the most exclusive of bats (Newbery Cenkos etc.)

I could never afford it, but isn't that the point?! :D

I too saw and handled this at the Vitas event. Would've walked away with it for free if George hadn't stopped me! It is pure filthy naughtiness on another level. George, please stop me if I order one!
