Not sure if i should move after this season so would like to hear some opinions. On the one side i absolutely love the club i play at right now for the people that are there, its a good laugh at division 5 out of 10 in a good league. It is a bit lower than i should be playing standard wise, have had a lot of clubs offer places in div 1/2 sides which is why im considering it. Currently averaging about 50 in 14 games and did the same last season too, not in the best form but not awfully out of form either, also get a bowl of 7-8 overs a game and i would definitely not bowl at other clubs, because there's pies then theres the crap i put down the other end.
My pros for staying are:
Really like the club and people.
New pavillion and nets in the next 2-3 years.
Smaller club, really like knowing almost everyone at the club and you feel valued as you're an important part.
Cons:
Standard is a bit low
They are struggling to put out a consistent 1XI team, we carry at least 4 2nd teamers each game
Nobody trains, myself a home counties lad and his brother are the only 3 that ever train and only 2 of us play for the club.
That basically results in 6-7 drop catches per game, every game. Which means we lose games we should win almost every week, incredibly de-motivating as a player.
The players that join are almost always 2XI players or sunday, there really is no new 1XI players joining, ever.
Im only 20 so i know i want to and should still improve but have no intention of playing cricket at the highest level of seriousness or talent. Its very much a hobby and I like how whilst yes it is league cricket I don't need to take it incredibly seriously.
