Spartan
« on: March 10, 2014, 06:39:44 AM »

Has anybody had any recent history with the new spartans (2013/14), in particular the MC 1000 or the MC LE. Quality wise? Pick up and balance? I've previously had a spartan when they first released bat range, when Michael Clarke first got sponsored, and I had a terrible experience with them, I got the bat, did all the prep and bullshit, first net session it had cracks all over the face and eventually broke, they sent me a new one after I had bugged them for months about my first one breaking, but the one they sent me was a lower grade version of my first one, and the willow was dead. BUT since, it seems as though spartan have fixed there (No Swearing Please), is it worth trusting them again?

thanks

I bought a MC Limited Edition late last year and was pleasantly surprised by how good it was! The handle was slightly oval at the bottom, it picked up really nicely but most surprisingly, it really pinged! It opened up pretty quickly and overall, it was a great bat. If it wasn't for my liking of higher-middled bats I would still have it now! I sold it onto a guy who absolutely raved about it although he did tell me recently that the handle just broke so maybe that's an area of concern? I bought it through GCCC so I wouldn't have any dramas if it needed to go back etc. Worth a try but by the same token, why don't you just order one through Paul Aldred, Affinity or H4L and end up with a cheaper bat and guaranteed ping!

Definitely thought about Paul, Affinity, H4L and BB. But i'm old fashioned and I like to buy stuff through the store in person, and GCCC are having a 30% off sale so expecting to go there this saturday to have a look at all high end bats. And I love a high middled bat so it should suit my style of play perfectly.

Naughty boy for using the BS word...  :D

The Spartan bat's I had a look at this weekend were very very very nice indeed  :o I don't think you would have any problems with a new one of them but to be on the safe side it might be worth looking at a couple of forum sponsors :)

The BS word just must have skipped my eye when I was proof reading ;) ;)
It would be safe to go with one of the forum sponsors but I'm heading to GCCC to tap up some bats and pick the best of the lot  :)

the only problem you may have is that, this late in the season, you will have limited stock to choose from. I was in there a few weeks ago and it was slim pickings unfortunately.

What store were you at? according to there website, they are out of stock in most stores, and running low in my local store (Clayton) but if they is no spartan bats in stock, might have a look at the puma platinum or gray nics ulitimate, anything with a full shape

Albion in Bris. All I can say is that if there isn't something that REALLY rocks you, pick a profile you like and send a pic of it to any of the guys here and get one made. Alternatively, when I couldn't find a GN at GCCC that suited, I bought one of Vitas's e41 Oblivion Test editions for less than what I would have paid here and it is a ripper! It took less than a week to get here! When you are spending good money, don't settle for second best, mate!
