Yeh vetting the people to sponsor is a difficult task though unless they have come on a recommendation or you know them otherwise there are plenty of people looking for free/heavily discounted kit

yeah too many people have the attitude of 'if i get a sposnosr makes me better player' to many people think of it like that rather than using the kit offered as a sign of what the company are giving back to you

Yeah some companies will specialise in being good at a particular product but not the full range of kit. Having matching kit doesnt make you a better player but picking the best option in each field e.g. best brand of bat, gloves, pads, helmet etc may improve your game as well as protect you better in the long run.

GN etc will do 40% off RRP as it means they make more than a usual retail sale whilst usually selling a full range of kit.

GN claim to be able to make a Pro Performance bat for £35 tops so who thinks they are special getting to pay £160 for it?

It is true that it is a discount but who would not want to offer kids with cash and desperate to look cool by boasting of being sponsored some kit for serious profit, hence the phrase "Candy from a baby".

The majority of companies are bad at giving out discounts and still charging high amounts for bats. I wouldn't just single out GN for it.

I remember being 14 though and getting excited as I'd been offered a package deal by Newbery and Stac haha!

I used to offer Stac discounts to junior players....

You are right, it is a product in demand and brands enjoy the loyalty factor.
