Just thought I'd update this, as I was very brief with the OP.
The GM 808 gloves are a decent build, a good quality glove at a decent for a mid-range glove. The leather palms are nice, and they are small mens, so offer a nice fit. The protection is good, and they are also pretty flexible, so don't need any wearing in at all.
The TON thigh guards I feel are a great price for what they are. I feel they are actually nicer than my P2s, and are quite rigid, but you can mould them into a better shape. Having whacked myself with a mallet, not full force, the protection levels on this are good, and they are quite thin compared to Aeros, which is a plus! The build and straps on it are also very good.
The Aero box feels much sturdier than the usual Readers box. I may have to invest in one myself... (That or a Nuttybuddy)
The Purist bat is really quite nice. I would say the profile offers a longer middle than expected, although it isn't amazing higher up the blade. (Not many bats are though) It has a big coverage low down though, and would say that it extends from low to mid/mid-high. The performance is really very good out of the sweetspot, I would say better than the Six6 profile, but not quite as forgiving higher up the blade. It actually looks a lot like the DB2 offering B3 have, which I find responds exceptionally well too.
All in all, really happy with what I managed to get for the brother. Just gotta sew up that Ayrtek strap, teach him how to knock in bats, and he's good to go.
Thanks again for the gear, Jake!
