My New Vyper
« on: April 10, 2014, 08:09:38 AM »

Last Saturday I took the plunge and got myself a new beauty.  Having been a Warsop man for a few years now it was difficult to move on and I'm happy I did.

I should say at the outset so that nobody would think I was being untruthful, that Paul @ Vyper is a family friend who I only recently discovered was in the bat business so thought I'd give him a go.

Having given him my precise orders on the bat - 2'9" fully dressed, slight concaving, slight bow, thickish toe and splice, performance over looks (but looks would be nice  ;) )
I got what can only be described as a screamer.  When I tapped up with it the bat appears to have springs in it and makes an 'oh so sweet' sound.

I asked Paul to bring some softs along when he met me to do the bat handover.  I had pads and gloves that I was more than happy with... however seeing his high quality gear I couldn't resist.  I have flogged off my pads to a club mate and am obviously keeping the other set of gloves.  I am awaiting Vyper receiving a shipment to get my softs (Vyper had run out of Mens Right Hand Large).

Unsurprisingly I took the bats to nets purely to show it off.  Lots of comments about the size and how it tapped up.  I'm one very happy customer.

As ever I shall let the pictures of the bat do the talking.

looks like a nice bat. Like the shape of it and the face is nice. Glad they moved away from Pakistani made bats and went to an English supplier.

I looked on the website .......... this model is LE so £260, not a bad price.

Neon, I looked into you originally when looking to buy a bat but thought you only did grade one.  I might be mistaken though  :-[

I just wanted my first grade 1+ bat, got all excited thinking about it haha  :D

Not to worry mate - don't blame you for helping your friend out!!!

We only actually buy the best from the bat maker in question - personally I just don't like the whole Grade 1 + thing - maybe I need to think about changing the branding in that case. I just treat Grade 1 as Grade 1 - don't get involved with this whole Grade 1 +++, causes too many arguments as then every customer would expect 20 pencil straight grains which lets be honest is not going to be possible! We do get some stunning bats but these just get given to whoever ordered them, no prioritising etc (I may have pinched one though ;) haha)

Thanks  :D

By the way, I have just noted I haven't put this in the bat review section.  Could an admin move this for me if necessary, if not, no worries!

Ipswich, Suffolk.  Or the South East if you're not local to the areas!  :-[

Looks very nice and the stickers are quality.

All round lovely looking.... tad on the expensive side for a tight northerner!
