Played for the twos on the weekend, managed to get a bowl this week and took a wicket with my first ball, ended with 3-1-4-1.

We ended up bowling them out for 78 with our opening bowler taking 7-13, and then our two openers both my age (16) went out and chased it without loss scoring 41 and 29.

Lost by 68 runs on saturday as their skipper came in and swung at everything, and pretty much middled everything (Should be in his clubs 1sts not 2nds if you ask me!!) Opened the batting, scored 9 with 2 4s over the top until I played a very lazy block and gated myself off the inside edge.  Fuming!!

Sunday we played Standard Athletic Cricket Club from France as they were touring us this year! SACC won the toss and scored 243 all out from 54 overs.  We chased it down with roughly 15 overs to go after our opener smashed 56 inside the first 10 overs!  I came in at number 5 hobbling on pretty much one leg (struggling with shin splint at the moment) and myself and the no.7 put on 104, mostly thanks to his whirlwind 71 whilst I couldn't get it off the square I nudged the ball into gaps for 1s and 2s.  Ended up seeing us home on 26* off 63 balls (Should have been 27 as my first run was off the glove and given as a leg bye!) Didn't hit a single boundary but didn't need to as my parters were doing the hard work!

Really enjoyed the challenge

Saturday - Was 1-50 off 25 overs then 1-76 off 26 overs. Not great. We got the points we needed as a team for promotion though and got promoted!
Sunday - Played for the league rep side. Was bowled third ball with a yorker by a kid I teach (Will never hear the end of it) but took 3-20 off 12 so made up for it a bit.

2 league games left... Hopefully (Weather dependent)!

God bless the rain....we scored 218 for 8 in 52 about 50 below par on a green but rock hard deck. Oppo were cruising at 150 for 1 going into the last 20 overs when the rain came down. They ended up needing needing 69 off 6 overs they lost a couple of wickets, the game was drawn but somehow we walked away with more points. Usually this would be a little embarrassing, but as a few in their team had been very verbal, especially 2nd slip who had called everyone of our batsman a c*nt and their young Essex bowler shoulder barged me when taking a single, the fact we took more points than them felt like a moral victory :D They were mostly a decent team, but for a  few idiots .

So I have just finished my first season in 12 years (since I was a kid), and I have to say it was a baptism of fire.
I was roped into playing for a small village seconds team by my boss at work. As I hadn't played for quite a few years I expected absolutely nothing, and delivered just that. First game, out for a first ball duck and a dropped catch for the lads to remember me by I started thinking this was all a massive mistake.
Fast forward to now and I have played my last game, I scored some runs, I kept wicket and I really started enjoying the game again. So much so to the fact, I am genuinely gutted that the season is over.

I am really looking forward to the winter and improving my game, so if anybody in Cornwall fancies doing a regular twice a month net in Truro until Christmas please let me know.

Today is the clubs last game of 2014 not sure if we have 11 players but the club needs 17 points  from a maximum of 24 available from todays away match to be certain of 3rd place in the division.
The forcast for Worcestershire is sunny and cloudy with a top temperature of 65 degrees.

Last league game of the season and it's called off due to stupidity.
I've now got a cricket tea to get rid of and no game...

We are due to play at a notoriously bad ground for drainage. After yesterdays and this mornings rain I would be very surprised if we get on at all.

Doesn't seem that long ago that I started this thread and now it's passed 1000 posts. Last league game of our season today and lost by 4 wickets to the team in 2nd place. We batted first and made 179 from 46 overs on a low/slow track. Played an Asian side today and they had good slow bowlers and in addition a fairly sharp opening bowler. Managed to get to 39 before being bowled in silly fashion. I was looking at the ground when the bowler ran in and as I looked up ball was looping towards me managed to miss it in blind panic. Umpire said he hadn't seen me looking down so said on your way.

They started at a quick rate and were 80-1 off 10 but then our spinners came on and did a great job keeping it very tight and picking up wickets along the way. Our openers were quality of bowling too short on a track not offering much. Anyway they hit the winning run in the 41st over.

So my league season finished with me as the the top league run scorer at our club and 4th in the league overall with 516 league runs at a touch above 35 which as an opener I'll take in a season which in my view favoured the bowlers as a lot of pitches were very green start of the year and very dry in the middle of the season.

Well we got on about a hour late.To be honest I don't think the pitch was playable. We easily won in the end. After skittling them out for 73 we chasrd it down from 9 overs.Had my first taste of opening the batting today as the skip put me up to try getting a quick start.I must say I didn't mind it althouth got out trying to pull one and top edged it straight up and caught behind.Ive asked can I have another crack at it next week in our final game

Good end to the season today, me and another forum member had an 80 partnership with the bat and then a shootout at the end for the leading wicket takers title!

Scored 62 on 1 leg after my hamstring went while fielding. I've felt in such good form the last few weeks that I'm opening up irrelevant of my fitness. Seeing it like a beach ball from ball one
