First game yesterday in the Kent Sunday league and nice to get a win. Even better was that our side has a lot of our promising colts in it and they all did exceptionally well contributing with bat and ball and giving there all in the field. We batted first and scored 252 myself and my opening partner shared a 100 stand inside 16 overs but both fell to very good catches and then everyone chipped in with decent knocks. In reply they never even tried to chase it down and used it as alive net basically which was annoying g seeing as it was a league game, they were on 12 runs after 13 overs and then when we knocked over a few of there senior players at least a few of there colts tried making it a bit more interesting and played some shots. Finished on 151-7. But none the less a first win in a new Sunday league campaign.
You seem to have some different ideas on cricket to most, why play any game if you're not trying to win it?
Another massive TFC for me yesterday, thanks to the trains out of London Saturday it took over 3 hours to get to the game. Made it just in time for the start and then we bowled out the oppo for 52 in 20.4 overs - knocked it off in 10.1 overs.3 and a half hour journey for a game that finished at 3.20pm... lovely afternoon full of ciders and sun mind!!
Declaring an innings early so you have more overs to bowl the oppo out, trying to bat out an innings to save the match etc.. they all have a bit of a 'Test' match feeling for me .
stop batting aggressively and accumulate runs. its not all like the 20-20 tv shows .... slap bang wallop.
