Am I the only one thinking bats these days from the big brands are becoming ridiculously expensive? Reading through some of your posts the Aus Kit topic there's RRP's of $900AUD (�435) on bats for the 08/09 season. The raw materials for a bat don't cost much over �40-�50, so adding �385 onto that is rather excessive. Yes I understand that oil and energy is becoming more expensive and the AU Dollar is becoming stronger, but the increase is massive. How can an Asian company such as AS sell their top bat for �300 less, they also have to import their willow too!

Yet another reason to use the smaller hand making bat companies?

Do you rate AS bats Tom ?

Also i was thinking of something Fusion could design, to add to training aids.

Quite simple a standard cricket ball in size and appearance but weighted "like the pro rugby palyers use to improve there passing could work simily to improve bowling speed. What do you think ?

I do like the look of them, can't say I've used one but I reckon most top of the range bats will be good as otherwise they wouldn't be in business and selling them. I did try to buy one from a guy on the forums, sent him the money but he refunded as he'd already sold it. But I may get in contact with AS direct.

I'm tempted to get one in 2lb 8oz, just get it then concaved slightly and shaped to a Fusion or something. So I'll end up with a nicely finished 2lb 6oz big bat!

Good idea also with the heavier cricket ball, think they're more in the market for fielding though but I will worth pass the suggestion on. There's a company though who produce 'The Aggot' they may be interested to hear suggestions such as the above.

One of the people at my club has got a pro as from his uncle who plays for islamabad and that is one of the nicest bat i've seen.
On the price of bats if the prices in england go up to around 400 i'll never be able to ask my parents for that so it looks like asian bats are becoming more and more appealing.

Your talking about Asad right? AS bats g200 and v3's look unbeatable for price - you can get them 2.7 and the odd 2.6.

Can only be a good thing for smaller custom companies, problem is that the Asian market are very competitive with their prices, problem is convincing people the pro's of buying from a smaller handmade company.

At the end of the day its not all about pretty stickers and the fact your favourite player uses the same bat!

Yeah good ideas ^^ ive got similar situation with a SS bat which is to heavy for me , i was thinking about getting it rrehandles with a c6+ that would make one truely awesome bat but im not sure if this would be possible does anyone no if it is ?

It's not, the C6+ isn't spliced whereas SS' are.

Its amazing how large companies are charging so much! People are paying it aswell!
Custom manufacturers are great and much cheaper

If you like the bat i would seriously consider getting the bat weight reduced and balanced if not then sell the bat and consider buying a bat made to your specification, there are plenty of batmakers out there, and a couple from forum which will be happy to help.
