low and long middle bat shapes?
« on: May 03, 2014, 08:04:11 PM »

Evening all.
I have decided that low middle bats seem to suit my front foot game, but when I play my back foot drive I hit the ball higher up on the bat.

As you can gather this presents a problem.

To help me, please would you suggest some shapes for me to think about.

Thanks

I think you should be looking at a twin peaks style shape with a double middle....

What about a Velocity from Paul Aldred? Mine is a G3, it's around 2.11/2.12 has a max spine of 57mm 120mm up the blade and it still has a 50mm spine height 280mm up the blade (just under the stickers) it has a nice long playing area. I think the shape is worth a look, also the finish of the bats is top quality.

Also depends on your budget, I also have an Affinity Spectre which was a bit more expensive. It is a good shape for front foot driving and has a really good sized sweet spot. The pick up is very surprising for the shape! Not sure if the Spectre is available in really light weights though. Customer service is really good buying direct from both Aldred and Affinity, you will not be disappointed.

Can you tell us your price and weight range?

H4l hellfire might be good for you also, they have a mid middle which has a lot of coverage. It is one one the first of my bats that I reach for. You can also pay around £130 -£150 for a devil or £300 for a pro so available in all price ranges.

Is it a low swell you want? I actually find that the offset edge does seem to lengthen the middle. Maybe a mid or mid-high middle with offset edges and a spine running down to the toe? I guess it depends what weight and what kind of pick up you like!
