I don't know why starc bothers to try verballing, he always seems to bowl poorly when it happens.

Pollard definetely overreacted by throwing his bat; starc should not have bowled it however...pollard, if I recall had a problem with Watson once as well? Also in the ipl I believe.

These West Indians and Australians really seem to hate each other these days, this isn't the first incident over the last couple of years.

Exactly and not just last couple of years. The hatred goes back a lot longer than that.

Word is the Australian players like to give it to Pollard for acting like the big man, despite him having never played Test cricket.

Pollard's a douche. Simple as.

Overrated dirty slogger. After 4 years in the IPL he's finally strung together a few decent innings back to back and now he thinks he's the man.

After earning over $5m in the last 4 years and doing jack, I'd be keeping my head down and trying to show people I can actually play a bit rather than act like an idiot.

As for Starc, he shouldn't have done what he did. But pollard's ego needs taking down a peg or two.

Also Starc hasn't been getting smashed around, in fact he's one of the best bowlers in the current IPL.

I still think that Starc is in the wrong, he can clearly see pollard moving away, hence following him. Pollard Over reacts but I wouldn't fancy a ball at ninety hitting me in the back where I have no protection !

It's a shame that their egos took what was a bit of entertaining gamesmanship in to pure stupidity. Anyhow by the looks of things Starc did not fancy squaring up to Pollard hahaha

Pollard consistently runs through his bowling action and doesn't release the ball ( appears same problem with the bat! ) only to eyeball, verbal....the batsman. >:(

Anyway new generation, at least Dennis and Javed made contact!

Anyways it's just not cricket :-[

I wonder if things like this and Warney carrying on like a dick in his last season of big bash are encouraged by organisers for a bit of theatre. T20 certainly has a touch of Rock and Roll wrestling about it.

Just watched this again.

There is no chance Starc can think Pollard is backing off to leg. Pollard turns his back to the stumps to walk away.

As shown in the picture below. Be an interested bit of invotation if you can make a  (sorry for potato quality)

That's what I've been saying for a while. He's got his back turned.
People saying pollard overreacted, but he reacted the way he did because he's been out for months with a knee injury. That could have easily injured the back of it again.
How would you guys like to have your back turned to a guy bowling 145 and see how you would react.
Starc was quick to run back to his bowling mark away, not a single word either. He knew what he did

Still can't believe they were not banned a couple of games each.

Interesting to note, no one knows how much Pollards fine actually is, as no one knows what Mumbai are paying him!

My take on this.....
Starc started giving it mouth the ball before, sledge time!
Pollard probablly pulled out (early enough for Starc to see) next ball to pay him back for Starc being a mouthy muppet previous ball!
Starc had a rush of blood and gave Pollard a scare by following him and bowling him. Was he aiming for him or aiming to just get close to him with the ball? Only Starc knows for sure! But he shouldn't have bowled it, particularly as Pollard has his back turned, and therefore had little protection from a 90mph ball!  :(
Pollard was rightly livid and went to throw the bat, but pulled out at the last second, as sanity just about won through in time!
Starc high-tailed it quickly back to his mark as he'd realised that he had gone way too far!
Pollard was still livid as he could have ended up injured through Starc's stupidity.

Who was in the wrong? BOTH of them!

Starc was obviously in the wrong for the reasons outlined.
Pollard was also in the wrong as he reacted very poorly when he almost threw the bat - that is also unforgivable!

I know that people see throwing a bat as more dangerous than what Starc did.....but I would rather be 20 meters away from somneone throwing a bat at me than having someone bowl a 90mph ball at me with my back turned! The bat wouldn't be travelling that fast and could avoid that. Whereas a 90mph ball hitting you on your back or another unprotected bit of your body would be agonising at best, and the injury could be nasty!

I see Starc as the main culprit in this one! But both need to be kicked in line quickly and bring them down to Earth!
