Going into the industry at the same time as Paul, I personally thought it was a given that proper cricket shoes were an essential piece of kit for cricket. It seems many customers are not of the same view, and want to spend as little as possible in this area.
WHY?!?!?
Get the best boots you can! You are on your feet for 12+ hours a weekend if you play saturday and sunday. Why would you not get the very best you could for you feet? You can borrow things like pads and gloves, and even a bat if you are lucky. But there a few people who have spare shoes to lend, and i imagine a smaller group still who are willing to wear a set of stinky old hand me downs.
Bats are obviously the most varied and exciting part of this industry, and if seeing a brand new release for the first time didn't make me weak at the knees then you could say i'm in the wrong game. But honestly, after bats, shoes are the next thing that i look out for when it comes to the silly season of the following years new kit announcements.
