Most Promising talent in this years ipl??
« on: May 29, 2014, 06:20:50 AM »

This is years IPL has been great for several uncapped indian players.

Who according to you has a bright future in international circuit ?

I would place my bet on
1. Manan Vohra
2.akshar patel

Manan vohra steals the show according to me....promising new talent for india

I have a couple of players who i think can fit into the Indian set up nicely.\

1. Sanju Samson, Good aggressive batsman but also one who can build an innings

2.Sandeep Sharma, Good movement with the new ball and also some good pace about him

Their my two

Sandeep sharma looks promising too...but as far as the indian team's track record goes....

If he plays for india...he will probably lose his pace without which his swing will be of no use

Eg
: irfan pathan
Praveen kumar :p

Karun Nair.

There is a bit of Sachin in him, the way he plays.

This year has been much better than any previous year: Chahal, Sandeep, Karun, Samson and Manan Vohra all look like they could one day play for India.
I wonder why England doesn't send more of their players to play in the IPL? It's a good middle ground between first class and international, with the experience of huge crowds and publicity as well as some star players and coaches to learn from. Both South Africa and Australia send some of their first class players and they seem to have prospered from it.

Sandeep Sharma just doesn't have the ferocity which India have been longing for in their pacers. I would invest time and effort in Ishwar Pandey, he has got potential to make it big. I thought the same about Varun Aaron once and has been let down by his lack of control.

Irfan Pathan is sadly past his prime now.

Robin Uthapa has made a surprise comeback and he has changed his game completely. As good as Sanju Samson is, I think he needs a little bit more maturity, so does Manan Vohra. Both great talents and could have been great additions for Bangladesh Tour.

I am not too sure if Mohit Sharma, Bhumra, Akshar Patel are quite ready yet for International stage.

There are a number of points here...
1. the standard isn't a middle ground it is pretty low.
2. it is during the English county season (which it shouldn't be, the county season shouldn't start at the beginning of April...)
3. none of the English players actually get bought at the auction!!

so playing with different people from different nationalities in front of full houses is important - but astonishingly enough, you do get that in England too...

The young Indian talent to show itself in this years version is still impressive, however.

1. Not enough quality match winners apart from hales in the England side. Morgan's not done much in the ipl.
2. Poor showing in the WC doesn't help.
3. As soon as the ball starts turning most look out of their depth.
4. Most of the coaches are SA or Australian so not likely that they'll want the English players.

I think the reason most of them don't get picked is due to the restrictive part of their counties. I know Notts said something along the lines to Hales for this season of you can only go if you get a bid of this much or something similar. There's no way you can really compress the county season anymore though unfortunately, and I think it would benefit our T20 players playing out there with the huge crowds and the big names.

I think the last point is normally the major reason given by English players. To me it's stupid that Hales, the number 1 ranked batsman until recently and holder of a WC T20 Ton against the eventual winners, doesn't get a look in. Morgan was doing pretty well in the IPL in the last season or so and Butler is a better option than most wk/batters in world cricket. I think those 2 decided to stay in England and fight for test places.

Reckon hales will get picked next year.
The problem with this years auction was the likes of rcb, Csk, DD, Mumbai and kkr had used up all the budget with player retentions and buying over rated players, whilst the remaining 3 teams are too cheap to use up all the auction purse.

With remaining the Sri Lankan players in next year's auction, think a couple of England boys might get picked.

Akshar patel should give Jadeja run for his money in test side
