Ok after many people asking for my bat mallet of which I only fell upon after much searching I have had a lignum mallet turned for me in the same profile. A lot of mallets in my opinion are too fierce due to the round face being too sharp for knocking in. This has been turned to replicate the same face as the Julian millichamp one that I have but it's actually better in the fact that it is heavier but easier to use as it is beautifully balanced as well as made. Due to its flatter face it spreads the impact over a wider area and being heavier you do not have to hit the bat so hard. Many cheaper mallets can cause damage to the face if you are not careful. Here are a couple of pics I will post better ones next week when I have more time. They are not cheap �90 but will last a lifetime and are well worth the money. That's what this is costing me for my own design but will obviously get some discount when I get to order a few but it will be a bit of discount but I don't mind as it is supporting uk industry and as everything I try and do it is pure quality. If the reactions good I will get more made up, I am very impressed with it I have to say I was a bit sceptical but took a punt on it and it paid off I am very pleased to say and will be a real plus to all you bat nuts out there

That's Argentinian Lignum, not as good as the Bahama version but it's not about these days...

I knew a guy who used to work with lignum and it's an absolute beggar - drove him mad. It soon takes the edge off tools.

Yes that's true the guy who turns these tends to use stone masonry chisels for turning it as the edge lasts longer on them

Old Ken used to use cheap throwaways, but whatever you do the cost of working lignum is pretty hefty and it's naturally reflected in the price of the finished article.
