Slazenger V1200
« on: May 30, 2014, 07:16:43 PM »

Anyone got or used a Slazenger V1200 at all?

Loving the profile and wondering how they pick up and play?

If you are talking about the new ones, all the ones I've picked up in shops had a terrible pick up. They all felt really heavy. No idea how they play...

Although talk to me of this old one MD?

Don't think he's put a price on it

You could put a low one on it :)

Jason on Cricketstoreonline raved on about the new v1200 in his videos and 2013 yearly playoff, which he gave it the best bat award. He said the twin spine widens the middle... not sure if this is true.   I thought the interesting tech was the hex handle. If the handle is light, this might explain the heavy pickup, which he liked.

I would imagine the bat picks up like a gn100 and the pickup on the scoop feels heavy to me, even though I love the scoop. Slazenger is not popular in Australian stores, so I've never had the pleasure of testing this theory.

I saw someone at the practice facility using a V1200 and it sounded really good. Didn't have a chance to feel it though. Had very thick edges, probably around 40mm.

Interesting toe! Mentioned in another thread last week?

Damage: THB inside edge face toe crack

Approx 2,8 lighter feel than his 2,9 TT but no scales

This is a bat with a very wide spine rather than a scoop per se. If they hadn't removed the middle of the spine it'd look like a distinction with a very high spine.

They had great reviews when they came out. Paul at IJC said the hex handle has too much vibration for his liking.

Asad at Uzi has a fine selection of both the 2013 and 2014 models I believe.

A team mate of mine has one. Pick up is pretty bottom heavy for its weight (2.10) and his hex handle started making a clicking noise after a season. It does ping really nicely mind you so if you can overlook those factors and can get one for a reasonable price, then it might be worth a shot.

Looked at a load in Lilliwhites last week and I'd not bother with anything other than grade 4 versions, all the models had as good looking and size wise the same features as the G1+, and all were 99.99 which makes them a bargain, bought a V600 for a friend and it had 12 grains and 2.8 dead with 41mm edges, nice oval handle too.
