Half my uni got 'sponsored' by Woodstock, all you needed to do was fill the form out and you got your 25% off it seems... not worth much as their bats are about 25% pricier than most anyway! They'll make more money selling kit direct that way than they will selling through retailers, simple as that. As for Mars, I doubt they sell many at full price tbh, at least at a discount they're selling some!

That's fair enough, good way to shift bats I suppose. A little cash is better than. Nothing. They'll have x amount of stock to shift every year after all

I sent an email to Woodstock and got money off, you mean that wasn't because John looked me up and thought I was the kind of player he wanted using his kit?

Sorry to be be the bearer of bad news ;) There were two strategies from the people I knew who applied - be honest and cross your fingers, or lie and write about what a gun all-rounder you are. Both had close to a 100% success rate.

Brings a sale to the brand, that's literally it in 99% of cases.

But then £50 of discounted profit is better than nothing for some!

I agree with discounts for amateur players but pro not so but that's my own opinion unless your joe root and the likes which would cost a fortune.

Call it sponsorship or discount I agree it all brings a sale and exposure

I used to be sponsored by Woodstock and I swear to Richie benaud it was the best bat I ever had!
Really happy with it.

I reckon it is the best bat I've owned so far. Lovely chap and has a massive passion for it.

I got a bat, 2pairs of gloves, pad and a bag. As I played county and international cricket and had to help sell some over in NL. Which was basically the deal.

You think they'd at least stretch to a pair of pads for an international!  :D

So my mate had a reply last night, was offered sponsorship lol

Questionable tactic mind, they claim the prices on the website are already reduced so take the discount from their "SSP" instead of the website price - for example, top grade bat on the website is £290 yet on the sponsorship form it's £350, reduced down to £225 for "sponsors".

Must be making a packet from anyone that bites
