Bat wax use

Hello all, just a quick one....

I have some Salix bat wax, and I've followed the instructions as per the tin, but I can never get a decent shine from it?

Does anyone have any experience using this stuff and how to use it to get a good finish?

 Apply wax allow  it to dry and lightly buff it in a circular motion with a soft  clean cloth till you get a shine.

How is this better than applying linseed oil?  You get a decent shine from linseed oil too...

You are right both will do the job but linseed can make bat fibres softer.

I also find wax a lot easier to get an even coat.

Linseed would also darken your bat.

Err. Batoil is majoritarily linseed and has the same effect.

The quality of the shine depends largely on the surface you are applying it to. You need to make sure the blade is very smooth. To do this you need to sand it with at least 220(P220) grid and maybe up to 400(P600) for really deep shine. Apply the wax as stated.  Good luck!
