Not sure if this is the case here or not, but there are cases where 'original fakes' (I'll explain the term) make it onto the market.
Essentially Asics put out their tender for a set of shoes. The successful bidder, fills Asics order, but then makes a second run of shoes themselves, not taking quite as long on their quality assurance (as there isn't Asics to check it before payment) and then flips them as fakes (but made out of the same factory and mostly the same materials as the original) for a bigger profit to them.
They look identical and basically are. Never quite sure unfortunately.
