Bat Regret...
« on: October 07, 2014, 03:19:05 AM »

I thought Id start this topic for a bit of a laugh.....and cry. Its about the one that got away haha. The story goes before I found this forum a few seasons ago I was looking at getting myself a new bat as I was playing my first season in about 10 odd years. I didnt have a huge amount of knowledge of bats apart from the big companies when I was looking. My budget was pretty low (around $200 aus) so I decided to try and look around at all the second hand/pawn shops instead of the big shops. I remember walking into one of the shops and underneath a few old bits of kit there was a pretty nice looking almost new bat, I pulled out this bat with a yellow grip and a yellow cat down near the toe and thought what the hell is this brand "Screaming Cat", never heard of it. From memory it only had a price of $175 aus but I passed it up for a 2010 Slazenger V12 ultimate for about the same price which I never got along with. I always kick myself now about passing on that bat and it will probably haunt me to my grave hahaha. I went back to the same pawn shop a little while ago and they still had the Screaming Cat softs that were in there when I looked the first time but no bat. Anyone else got a story about a bat they never should of passed on?

That 2lb5 B&S ex international bat that Jake sold for a hundred notes is a regret of mine, I have also missed a couple on eBay by forgetting to look before they expired.

I suppose this thread would be more accurately titled 'deal regret'

I thought the same mate, but thinking back, it may have been too light for most. With eBay, I have no regrets on anything I missed just the ones which I sold at silly prices.

I can confirm it is light  :) but not too light for me. I'm no string bean either  :)

Probably, I use 2'9/10. I'm sure if it was a gun I could have palmed it off to a team mate for more than that though...

Sent my first ever laver Signature because I broke my wrist and needed a different sized bat. Wrist healed up like new and I gave back the best bat I have ever used. I still remember the ping and the pick up. The new bat I received was very good but not in that ones league. Gutted.

Two spring to mind.  One was an original Turbo 333 in 1993 that I sacrificed to go to the Phoenix Festival.  Which was cold and basically sucked ass.  No idea if the bat was good, but I've always wanted one...

The other was one of Craig White's GM bats that I was given and in turn passed on to my club to auction.  I reckon if I'd tapped the damn thing with a mallet I'd never have given it away!

Funny enough one of my greatest regrets in terms of selling a bat has just returned to me, I'll do a thread on the return of my lost love.

I did however pass on a GM Exculiber LE to my brother when I was a teen as kook released the bubble and I admired Thorpe more than Atherton then. The bubble was good but the GN turned out to be a legendary bat in our club and was used by nearly everyone, I think during one game 6 players used it during there innings it was that good. Lasted my bro about 5 years before he gave up playing.

I think the one I regret selling wad the Bulldog spirit20 that I got off here about 4 years ago.  It was a fabulous bat,  if a bit heavy.  I should just have gone to the gym.
