I've thought about the API route before but one of my issues with play cricket is there seems to be a lot of data missing, and the stuff that's there lacks any proper consistency. I've seen some clubs with 4 versions of the same person, just spelt differently. I know that's down to human error but their should be some sort of wildcard match to see if the user already exists when adding new players.
Totally agree, however I'd probably see that as a failing with the Play Cricket system, rather than the user.
Unfortunately, Play-Cricket seem to have a monopoly on club cricket stats and most leagues (certainly the ones in my area) actually specify that you use them to store results. For example, our junior side are required to use a tablet to score matches and they do so via the CricHQ app / Total Cricket Scorer, and they download the fixtures from Play-Cricket.
When it works it's a fantastic bit of kit, but it can go wrong so very easily. Again.... we have a Pitch Hero site which links into Play-Cricket, but even for something as simple as displaying the league table, some teams appear twice (again, the fault of Play Cricket).
In an ideal world, a Play Cricket competitor would appear, and the ECB / MCC would endorse that instead.
