GM Epic 707

My first bat to refurb is my GM Epic, which I have a bit of a soft spot for. I have owned the bat nearly two years and it hadn't received a refurb so it was at the top of my list.

It didn't need much work doing to it, removal of the scuff sheet, small bit of damage to the toe and bit of TLC.

First up was the removal of the scuff sheet, which came off with relative ease thanks to the Mrs hairdryer. Always remember to pull the sheet off from edge to edge to minimise any wood coming off with the sheet. Another tip is to keep the scuff sheet as a template for the new one.

Six grades of sandpaper.  Crivens. That's keen. My hat is doffed to you, sir. Hell of a way to spend Christmas!

Just the 4 grades now! High quality sand paper makes the job alot easier.

So i am now up to three completed bats this holiday, with a forth on the way to being completed. Really enjoyed working on each bat and improving on the finish and detail.

A teammates GM Icon, not a great looking 808 but it performs really well and picks up like a dream. I'm tempted not to give it back.





My brother's grainy Kookaburra Ricochet 300. Not much use but he doesn't look after it brilliantly do needed a seeing to.





My current project is this Puma with a pretty large toe crack. I have dowelled it three times, hopefully it will be usable once I'm finished with it.

Good luck with the puma. It is a large front to back split. Let us know how this goes when you are done and tell the owner to stop trying to hit Yorkers to the boundary.

Lots of photos to upload so here goes.

Finally finished the puma project, broken toe has been dowel three times and feels solid. I have prepared it for nets and will probably add some more tape for security.

As a side note, this is daylight robbery as grade one, it's bloody ugly.







Next up was this well used Rehmani Assassin LE. I think it's around 4 years old and doesn't look to have seen much TLC. It performs extremely well, certainly at its peak. Lots of surface cracks and a couple on the edge too.











Couple of coats of oil, scuff sheet, edge tape and it's ready to go. I'm really pleased with how it has come up, I didn't expect much to be honest.

Haven't decided yet, I will sort out the remaining bits first and then decide.

Yeah, I got a Titan orbital sander for Christmas and I'm loving it. I have found it easy to use and have been able to get through jobs quickly. This bat took me about 2 hours, using 3 different grade of sandpaper. It would have taken days by hand.

Don't forget your sandpaper, get some 120, 180 and 240 in 125mm size and that should do you for a while.

I was just reading the comes with 3 sheets part of the description. The amount of work I have they will not last me long.

Don't use the 80, it will shead the bat.

I've got the same Titan sander. Once I've finished using 240 with it I then use 400 and 600 by hand, the bat ends up like glass
