Bin it. I don't get why people persist with these broken bats.

It's cracked due to poor preparation, super dry cleft, etc. Throw it and start again. Then spend the money for a nice bat or get another cheap one and repeat the process. Simple, surely?

For two reasons
1: I enjoy repairing bats and want to improve my knowledge and skills
2: They didn't cost me anything

That GN doesn't look too bad, I did a bat for Chad that was in a worse state and as far as I know that's still going okay (or he was too polite to tell me otherwise anyway...)

The crack is deep and rather large but it allows you to pour enough glue into the bat. Problem is using enough clamps to get the cracks lined up.

The one I did had completely broken but stayed attached if that makes sense?
Enough glue and a big enough clamp will solve anything!

I know what you mean. This crack was still attached but I can move the broken piece quite easily.

Well I have nearly finished the Norfolk Viper, all that requires completing is to give it a buff and a fresh set of @Norfolk Cricket Bat co Stickers on Tuesday. Finish it off with a scuff sheet and some tape and fingers crossed it a good'un.

The repair has been a success, both toe and suface cracks are solid and bat doesn't feel dead though the toe. Bat pings very well indeed, pleasantly surprised!

The dark areas on the edge is my experiment of using some sawdust and pva combined to smooth over the missing chunks of willow. Seems to have worked, bit dissapointed with the colour difference though.

I went over to see David at Norfolk Bats this morning to grab a couple of sets of stickers (also a few others bits which I will post elsewhere). I have given this bat a coat of oil and then a generous buff since the last photos. Buffing the bat makes it wonderfully smooth and silky, I can nearly see a reflection on it! All its needs is a scuff sheet and edge tape to protect the surface cracks and toe damage. I'm pretty confident it still has a few hundred runs left in it and does not feel dead when bouncing a ball on it. Ambitious and not rubbish, result!

Still don't get it @Nmcgee?

Another project bat I completed today was this Puma Evospeed 1 which I picked up off eBay for a bargain price of �45 posted! I'm presuming these are made by SS (It's a made in India version for sure) and I have never owned one before so I thought it was an ideal opportunity. A very on-trend profile, duck bill square toed full profile flat faced club of a bat to be honest.

It arrived as a mess, devoid of stickers, an Aero tennis grip on and with more dirt than cherries on the face! I repaired the toe damage with a simple open wide and in you go attitude, seemed to have worked its magic.

I had tested the bat briefly before the refurbishment and it's softer than some of that smelly French cheese, seam marks appeared from splice to toe. I decided to give it a full refurb straight away so got to work with the grit, finishing up at 400 and a buff to give it a gorgeous shine. Some classic black and silver Norfolk Bats stickers to finish and jobs a goodun'.

P.s The dark marks on the toe is dirt and mud that is ingrained in the bat, bloody annoying toe-tapping former owner!!

I used an orbital sander for all my sanding and a buffer drill piece for the buffing. I used David's at Norfolk Bats today as it much quicker to use. I use the following sandpaper grit for the majority of bats 120, 180, 240, 320 and 400. I may skip 120 if the bat is in good condition.
